How much would you pay for a welsh a perfect childs pony of around 4 years old that had a fairly decent schooling level (e.g. walk, trot, canter, popping small jump minimum...) if it had sweet itch?
well i brought exactly the same pony, but without sweet itch 9 years ago for £450 but he was at a rough home and they wanted a quick sale. im not really sure about yours, id say mabye around £1000?
tbh not a lot, sweet itch is awful to deal with! and with flare ups can seriously effect their nature, a friends sweet itch mare gets really ratty both on her back and the floor when shes suffering. i personnaly wouldnt buy one with it unless it was dirt cheap.
Switch Itch could be environmental my pony never had it until she came to us - we live near a river in a forest and still have midges in November! I paid £900 for a well bred section B just backed four years ago without sweet itch but we manage her newly acquired sweet itch with Benzyl Benzoate from April onwards and a cuddly ponies flysheet which was bought cheaply in the sales. I would buy another pony with sweet itch but it would depend if the good things outweighed the sweet itch and the level of sweet itch that it had. We won't sell our mare on as we will keep her for breeding once the children have finished pony club and showing with her but I think that I would probably have to sell her at a reduced price if I was going to part with her but I would still expect £2500 because of what she has achieved whilst with us.
Section A's around here, bearing in mind I am in breeding country range from about £700 to about £1500 for a safe childs pony.
