is it common knowledge that a miniture pony is under 9hh (often measured in inches only), a pony is 9hh - 14.2hh, and a horse 14.2 +.???
I see so many adverts stating about their 'small horse' for sale at 16.1hh, surely small horses are between 14.2 - 15.3hh?? (maybe horses in general are bigger today than say 100 years ago?)
My 15hh more often than not gets called a pony (I don't mind) but when entering pony classes we are told she is too big!
Once out hunting I jumped a hedge (it was big!) after a man came over and said 'that was a bit big for you wasn't it, but well done on getting to the landing side!'
I would like to add, sometimes best things come in small packages - anyone remember Stroller??

Yeah my mare is 15h and her son is 15.2. She could jump but he can jump higher and wider. I use to ride for a woman who bred her own competition horses and everything was 15.2 or under. Her 15.1 stallion was in the Grade C final at Wembley.
Diamonds arn't as big as rocks.

im not sure about minatures, but a horse is anything bigger than 14.2 and a pony anything 14.2 and smaller.
My mare is 14.2 but stands and looks much larger. I used to get many comments when waiting to enter pony SJ that i was on a horse and shouldnt be allowed. She once got measured by a judge at BSJA as well!
