although i'm sure someone will be along any minute to tell you what you did wrong...... and why we shouldn't be laughing....

Am I a bad person if I find that really funny. ;)

People keep asking me if they can bring their children to see Bree - I'm a bit concerned that she might try and eat them. Maybe I'd be doing them a favour. :D

My friend and i put two children off horses for life about two weeks ago we were out hacking and a huge tractor and trailer was haring towards us no slowing down nothing!!! We knew this wasn't going to go well so found a nice large driveway to park ourselves in as we did so two children came running out of the adjacent house cue two horses being spooked from both sides shaking and bum swinging.......I think we scared those children for life :/

*grin*

I've just scared off my 3-year-old great niece who lives in Miami and has never seen a horse before. She was visiting with her mother and grandfather and was desperate to get close to the horses, so I caught Merlin (Finn, although smaller, hasn't learned not to mug people yet), gave her some carrot sticks and explained very, very carefully that she needed to keep her hand flat and made her show me how she was going to do it.

You guessed it, she got too excited and stuck her fingers right into his mouth - one nibbled finger, one screaming three year old, one quietly grateful mother!

I keep failing to put kids off, we have walked miles these summer holidays providing an impromtu horse camp for relatives, and workmates kids.
Cos we were knackered walking them out round the moor, we did bareback riding games in our small field on a slope, had them poo picking and cleaning tack and barn, and they still ask to come.
I'm not admitting it's nice seeing their confidence building up

Yesterday, I think I managed to scare off a whole street of people. Was walking along a road with cars parked on the opposite side so no cars could come down towards us until we'd moved - there were a mass of cars waiting. Anyway, indicated we were turning left to let them know we'd be out their way. Cars now pulling up at the junction too so lots of people around now. Car windows are down as it's hot.

Suddenly, my horse slips, regains balance but only slips again spreading four legs in different directions, but then when he got up he leaped to the right towards all those cars waiting for us to get out their way.

I panicked as only had one hand on the rein (as was indicating), and I could see my foot getting rather close to the driver's face. I didn't know what to do - was so embarrassed. Gave him a pat and said thanks to the lady and walked off cringing. Everyone's faces were probably a picture
