Just getting a touch paranoid that B is starting to look a little light. He has always been a good do-er, so I have never had to worry about his weight.

To me he just looks a little 'pointy'

He looks good! Lots of good doers are looking a little light this year including mine, just got to keep up the hay etc and spring is just around the corner with its many calories!

Just right is a little light.

Perfect. Well, like everything below GP could use more muscle, but definitely not by feeding ;)

Looks good and won't be portly when the spring grass comes! My good doer is similar I've been told he looks skinny and I need weight on him!

Looks very good to me. My Haffie is also a little on the light side too. He's lost a tremendous amount of weight this winter (healthily and very much needed) I sometimes look at him and think he's a tad thin, but thinner is healthier. Ill try and find a picture.

I'd probably still be working weight off the Haffy (not dieting, just working, to transfer weight to topline) tbh... But I do like them very lean myself :)

I'd like him much more muscly, so I've upped his feed a little and started him on the lunge. Cant ride him yet as his saddle is too wide and i'm waiting for the saddler to visit but hopefully in a couple of weeks. He's a far cry from when I got him in August...

Mahoossive improvement - he looks like he's been fed up for burgers in that pic

I'd not bother with the feed and work him on long reins / lunge personally, as the grass will be through before you know it and he's not exactly skinny now... But as I say, dramatic improvement from before and clearly going in the right direction.

Actually I'm a lazy git and don't do groundwork unless I have to, so I'd be riding bareback :D Didn't buy horses to walk myself :p

He just gets hay and fast fibre for his supplement. His appetite has dramatically reduced as well now and he eats normally, rather than a ravenous monster!

Vet said she wanted to see him 50kg lighter after the winter. According to the weight tape hes now 366kg when he was 485kg in August.

Sorry to hijack your thread OP. xx

Aye, he looks healthier all round. FF isn't "really" feed, I thought you meant you had him on "real" feed. (I'm only prepared to pay for feed if it contains serious kcals for my old cob, or when F is super fit and needs to be sharp in summer, so for me "feed" = oats/barley/linseed/conditioning/instant energy mixes etc :D )

I regularly have conversations with people that go like this:
other person: "he's looking skinny"
me: "looks about right to me, but my vet's coming out next week, will see what he says..."
other: "he'll say he's too skinny"
me: "he won't, he'll say he could lose a few pounds"
other: "then what would he think of my horses, don't be ridiculous..."
me: "he'd think your horses are fat :) "
...
Vet: "how nice to see a non-fat native... could still lose the odd pound though"
:D

One of the reasons I keep mine on my own place really :p Doesn't endear me to people!

My friend said my pony was cute and cuddly when he arrived and now he looks emaciated! I told her he looked healthy.

It amazes me what people think a healthy weight of horse is these days.

Good doers looking skinny is great.
My good doer has lost loads this winter too. I was giving his loaner a lesson today and he actually had bony bits! His grazing muzzle has been put on this week as the grass is growing/frosty and his hard feed is reduced too. The plan is to keep him thin!

Looks fantastic to me!!

I'm finding it a little disheartening that so many people are saying their good doers have come out of this winter looking lean... I'm still battling with mine, he's fit enough to do 2.5hr hacks without breaking a sweat, but he's still the size of a house :(
