Brilliant!! He went perfectly in it and really listeined to me. My riding seemed better, more confident and in control. Had a different instructor today and she really commented on how good my position in canter was etc. We did loads of canter work, from working canter to canter allongee and back again (not sure what they are in english). It was brill.

I think the fact I was much lighter with my hands with this bit helped as I was actually more consicious of what I was doing, as didn't want to hurt him.

So basically my best lesson in the year I have had him, we worked well and it all came together. So hooray!!!! Just got to try jumping him in it now, fingers crossed it goes as well.....

I agree, they seem to have fallen out of fashion, which is a shame.

So glad its helped, it is a lovely feeling when things improve isnt it!

I just feel great after my lesson, which makes a change!!! Actually feel like things could start to go well at last!!!

I had the same feeling on Monday when I used a Kimblewick for the first time, I was so happy at not having my arms ache after a hack in a snaffle, tolerated it for 10 years and wish Id done it much sooner!:D

Different horses suit different bits and it's great whenyou find one that fits. Any years ago I tried a kimblewick on my pony - yeah, didnt work, he just put his head on the floor and p*ssed off! Lol. Eventually we found a bit to suit though - it's certainly a case of trial and error with bits I think!!!

I'll second that Lady25! I was utterly convinced a kimblewick would work on a little mare I had. The first time she appeared to be listening but the second time she went straight through it. What a baggage:(

Just spotted my typos (one of many -I blame this laptop! Lol), i meant to say MANY years ago, not ANY!! Lol
