Someone I know cantering their horse with a toddler sat in front of them without a hat on (toddler not person I know) :( Why would you do something that stupid?

Yup to both! Also said person recently shouted at a child for falling off, the pony bucked and this person wouldn't have any of it - it was the child's first fall too  again why would anyone do this? She's a RI too :( Stealing pedantic's NOA for this one!

Far too many treat children as objects these days. They are small people! They are not lesser beings.

Working in the Co-Op is hard, I have to stand by and watch SO much bad parenting. I hate it! Not only that, but I get prams rammed into the back of my legs...if I were to lose balance and fall into the pram...that would spell disaster for the kid inside!
I've also had prams pushed out in front of the car!
When will people realise they are not dolls?!

I've also just seen a stupid photo on Facebook, someone putting a sheltland pony in the boot of a Fiat Multipla, don't know if I'm more shocked at that or the fact that other 'horse lovers' are saying there's nothing wrong with it!

What an idiot.

I have told off the same girl on my yard twice this week for riding without a hat. She thinks its big and clever. Her words were she was showing off her jumping without a hat to her potential new loaner.

My niece doesn't even sit on my pony whilst he's tied up without her hat on.

I used to WTC with my daughter in front of me on the saddle. RDA do this a lot with autistic children, it is called back-riding.

but she ALWAYS wore a hat. Can't understand why you would not insist on this for a child. My 3 year old isn't allowed mount without her hat and back protector, and can't groom unless she has her hat on. To me, if she is protected in this way, I can relax a bit and let her learn from experience rather than hovering over her every second.

Are you the Y/O or Y/M?

Because some people just don't care. There's one on my FB who regularly posts pics of her 3yo daughter sat on horses in the field, bareback, no headcollar, no hat, no one even stood by the horse as she's too busy taking photos. Sometimes it's a pony, other times it's a 16hh TB.

People amaze me.

I think it's crazy to do that sort of thing. Fine if you want to be an idiot, enjoy your Darwin Award, you deserve it! But putting a wee one in danger is shocking!

I'm still really mad about the poor kid getting shouted at for "falling" off, great way to ruin a childs confidence dumb*ss!
