. We can do moonies at them on the autobahn as we sail past them cos we've got no speed limiter
[/ QUOTE ]
And we can laugh at your diesel bills from having to drive halfway across Britain to get to the ferry port.....
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah but just wait till you go to Necarne (I've heard the plan you see
) - you've got to drive ALL the way across the country THEN go on the most expensive ferry on earth!! (Possibly a slight exaggeration but it seemed appropriate
)
Anyway, I'm prepared to take on some responsibilities for the whole HHO party: I'll be in charge of mixing the drinks and missing. I would like to delegate dressage and drops please, also washing...
[ QUOTE ]
Oh wow can I join the "wales and west" team please!!!???
[/ QUOTE ]
Course you can! Just nominate the tasks you feel you are best suited to take on and those you'd like to delegate... Actually, think I might delegate the moonies too because anyone who has ever seen my bottom, even suitably disguised under well-cut breeches, will vouch for the fact that it won't be gracing any calendars, and we don't want to frighten the natives...
I'll pick up your SJ. Obviously I'm in charge of table-dancing, but these days in view of the passage of time and all that has gone with it perhaps you could do the prior "table-reinforcing"
Or perhaps we could ask Cullohill's OH, who sounds like a bit of a super-hero, to take that on...
. I believe I was 15 when I had to be told to stop singing along to a Madonna song on the dance floor as people could hear how out of tune I was over the (very loud) music. I will say it's an excellent event for singles (or was the last time I checked
).
Do make sure you gauge diesel usage so that you have an empty tank when you get to Belgium, from tomorrow maximum price allowed by law is 1,02 euros (75p) per litre, and I didn't even pay that yesterday, I paid 97 cents
.
Bad news though Tabledancer, to get to Minderhout there is no Autobahn, just normal French and Belgian motorways
yes no problem OH is all set to go offered his HGV for driving there and i can ask him to put his tool box in for table reinforcing duties - i shall also put him forward for carrying all heavy objects and the general dogs body
and generally being there to help anyone and everyone as thats the kind of bloke he is!
my mum can be on catering duties already discussing my brothers campervan!!!
oooo i'm getting excitied and no idea really what it is or if i can really go!!!!
if i manage to get hold of a good horse for next year (chance in a million, i know) then i'll be trying to beg a space on the BaydaleHumungaLorry. Good plaiter, cook, wine provider, map reader, general dogsbody. Doesn't snore. Won't eat all the chocolate due to stupid diet. Guaranteed to get runs in events in Europe due to bizarre nationality thingy! What do you reckon?
thank you, wow i'd love to do it - i'd have to persuade my boss for the time and that maybe quite difficult as we only have factory shutdown holidays i'd have to sell it to him that i'd been approached to go r something and say once in lifetime op - which it is really!
do they build up to height?? don't think we'd be ready for ** but would really depend how start of season goes but think * more in our league to be honest
They don't build particularly big, but they do go for technicality! There's a coffin right by the stables that has been there for as long as I can remember (getting for 16 years
), that always claims some scalps, parts a and c are innocuous logs on top of man-made mounds, with a very shallow, bright blue ditch in between! They quite like their skinnies/corners too. The show-jumping arena is very nice, good parking too. All on sand.
I'll see you there! (just need to persuade BE to let me come now...)
. It's * for me, would rather go and cruise round something easyish than struggle round something just out of our reach (especially if there's a small chance I might be hungover at any point
). Might get to a CIC** by the end of the season but not going to push it for May I'm afraid.
But wonders how important final year exams really are
Really don't think mother would allow me since I missed one in 1st year (still passed! don't know how!!) and mother was...... hmm...... how do I put it politely..... not imused!!!
So shall prob not be allowed to bring pony (BE prob wouldn't allow it either
) but if no exams I would love to come and be groom (and yes I need to be written as ya alls groom so if you win any prizes I might get one
Honestly you lot, I go out for the evening and this post goes mental.
I'm a bit scared at the thought of TableDancer's table dancing and mooning; Teapot's map-reading - although a bit of bargain shopping on the way sounds like a good detour; FESTIVE_horses mother when she hears we've "borrowed" her daughter during v important exam time; but Kerilli doesn' scare me at all -she can most definitely come on the basis that she doesn't snore or eat too much chocolate.
sj_mummy's bar has to be visited while we're there, and I so want to hear T_E singing and dancing to Madonna that I feel we must go. Sounds like it could be a three lorry trip though at this rate, yay, we have a convoy, how much fun is that going to be!
All input on mileage, cost, time etc gratefully received.
What qualifications do you need? Same as a 1* here? do you need permission from BE to go? Really excited about the prospect of going abroad to compete. I am well practiced at cleaning white bits and not bad at plaiting just hope my shoulder op doesnt clash or the shoulder op may have to wait!
According to MultiMap Bristol to Minderhout is 380 miles and should take 7 hours, guessing you need to add on at least another hour to compensate for being in a lorry not a car?
Dover looks to be about 1/2 way from this area, its 180 miles from Dover to Minderhout if I am looking at the right place?

Not in my lorry!
Qualifications are universal as they are FEI not BE. You apply to go through BE but it's usually pretty much a formality, except in really over-subscribed events like Boekelo and Le Lion. I've never yet been turned down anyway, although that may change now I've been being noisy and a nuisance at the AGM etc

Yes, same qualifications but you most definitely DO need to be picked by BE. They have a certain number of places available to British riders and BE chooses who gets to go and will look at your last 4 results (according to BE site). Don't suppose there will be huge competition to go to Minderhout especially as it's virtually the same time as Houghton and Chatsworth. I have been politely advised by BE that they need to see some better results as my last 4 aren't all that fab (despite a clear XC at CIC* already). However there's plenty of time to get my BE record brushed up....
You also need the world's most expensive piece of plastic aka. a maroon thingy from the FEI to wrap round your passport for the princely sum of ...... £173

Does that mean your lorry is much slower, or that its paint scheme blinds all the other drivers who get out of your way so it is much faster?!
I wouldn't worry TD, not only is there no hope of me competing abroad since I've been such a pain, but BE actually haven't sent me any renewal stuff yet....
I am thinking of it as an admin error on their part and choosing to ignore it and renew online!! How could they possibly not want me to prop up the bottom of the score board?
My lorry travels at the speed of light - that isn't actually a colour scheme you are referring to it's an optical illusion created by the speed of travel
Lorry speed contrasts nicely with my average xc speed
