Just seen the weather for this week ARRGGGHH

Hate hate hate snow but have all rugs straw hay in abundance and have just looked at weather forecast for my area and it now says it is going to miss us this is only because i double stocked up.
Well i dont care because i said i HATE SNOW.

We've had snow on the ground since October. Temperatures this week have been dipping to -29C. I want to go back to the Uk to get away from this but it looks like the winters are getting colder each year over there!!!!!!

We're on a hill on the edge of the Cairngorms so you can guess about our snow.....3 months solid last year, it never melted. If we get the same this year but with more wind then we could have 10-12 ft drifts....:-O

Have a tonne of rock salt for the tracks, 5 water containers constantly filled, a kettle in the feed room, a large chest freezer filled with bread and milk and a large shovel!

Im planting tree saplings today before the ground freezes for the winter! Keeps you warm too!

One of my two does enjoy the snow tho....(edited to add I dug that track by hand, about half a mile from the stables, took 3 days.....)

You REALLY need to get yourself a plow for the quad or tractor, or a snowblower! The only time I dig snow is if I can't actually get in or out of a door.

Livingsky, at least here the country just gets on with life and doesn't act as if the world is about to end. Hopefully after last year the UK has got its' backside in gear and won't be such a fairy about a bit of snow. I hated the whole UK "OMG, we're going to die hysteria!" if there was as much as 2" of the stuff. Pathetic. I thought so then, and I still do.

Winter happens, snow happens, deal with it or move somewhere else.

We have 2 flakes of snow due to arrive at 2pm according to our forecast, but as it has been raining fit to float an Ark for the last 24 hours and temps are hovering around 12C (what's that all about:confused:) then I don't expect the stuff to stay around.

I guess there are pros and cons to everything/everywhere, 12C sounds lovely but not the rain.

When we were talking about different areas to live in when we go back, Scotland was mentioned last time by my OH! I think I could cope with 3 months of snow that doesn't seem too bad, better than the 7 months I think we are going to get this year. I'm not sure if we could cope as well here if we had some hills thrown in mind.

We have a snow blower was going to sell it, think it might be a good idea to bring with us now.

yeeeesssss very true however ......such things do require quite a bit of what used to be called the green folding stuff :-)). Quad has gone to quad hospital to have chain repair, so def cant afford attachments as well at the mo!

On the positive side I did lose a stone last winter which cant be bad!

I dont really mind the snow as long as the horses can get out for a hooley.
