And put me out of my misery.

As some of you will know I've been awaiting the delivery of the Freeform.

So off I popped to collect this box from my dads after work all excited like a kid at Christmas.

Pulled it out and my face dropped, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

It's bloody tiny! I know I said he was short backed and said they do a short base but this takes the Michael.

It would be ok on a 13.2h pony and I was still primary school age!

Honesty its that funny that its not funny...if that makes any sense.

The stick on seat is about 15" it looks like a pony pad.

My husband was p*ssing himself with laughter...I could of wolloped him or strangled him with the bubble wrap!

*bangs head on wall*

Oh dear. Are you quite sure its not the right size for you though, can you put it over the sofa and see if you can squeeze your bum in?

You're very slim anyway, you'll probably fit! :)

Awww no! I was reading your other thread with interest as I have no idea about treeless.. It was really informative.. you must be so disappointed tho.. Gah! Silly people! Just remember every wrong one makes yo closer to the right one! Have had a couple of tricky horses to fit in the past... Think we counted 10 saddles in the tack room at one point 8 of which were ones borrowed/bought for the same horse with similar confo to ur boy! Who is very pretty btw!

Anyways I'll stop rambling hope you find something suitable soon! :)

I've already done that lol

Soon as I took it out of the box my husband burst out laughing saying "your arse will never fit in that"!

So tested it on the back of the sofa...like you do, hoping maybe its just my eye sight perhaps its not as small as it looks....nope it really is! and its rock hard.

I used bettersaddles.com to get mine - and had it on a trial first, they have heather moffat ones, and barefoot - probably others too if thats any help :)

Cuppatea - No your not wrong, you can change the seats on them but because it a short base I can't put a larger one one as then it digs into the back, as the longer one was in there but was too big for the saddle, fine if the saddle is larger then you can put a smaller seat on, so the idea is a good but not in this case.

But its seems very hard too, must say its a lot better quality than the Freemax, similar design but better but I don't think its a patch on the DreamTeam saddle and DT is much cheaper.

Have read your other posts re saddles and have been through all the same fitting problems as you have with a short backed, sprung ribbed, asymmetric and forward girth groove. I was losing the will to live trying to sort a saddle that fitted.

Finally bit the bullet with a barefoot london and it worked for him but not my hips. He loved it moving so free and I could also balance up his asymmetric back with shims.

Finally decided to upgrade to a HM fheonix dressage and it is fantastic! I don't feel like my hips are pushed far apart, the saddle can be adjusted in so many ways and you can use a normal saddle cloth! I got mine of ebay for half the price of new. Had to watch a while to bid on ones that stayed in my price range but just don't regret it. I have the 18" and it fits us both perfectly. They measure from front of pommel to back of cantle in a straight line rather than across the seat at an angle.

Where abouts are you in Yorkshire? Your quite welcome to have a try of mine if your not too far away from Huddersfield?

Carmaandfin - I was actually looking at getting one of those to start with but thought I wouldn't be able to afford one unless I got a second hand one but a few days afterwards my dad said he'd help me out as he knows I've been struggling to find something that fits plus at the time I wanted to try before I buy, so didn't want just buy HM off eBay without knowing the size etc, hence the ones I've been trying.

I live in East Yorks near Goole/Selby, I'm not far from Huddersfield as I've been up there a few times to Haighfarm, about 45 mins away. If you didn't mind then yes I love to try it, even just seeing one in real life would be helpful as I don't know anyone who's ever had one so not seen one before.

If you want to drop me a pm, very kind of you to offer.

Right I'm turning in now, I'll try the Freeform tomorrow
morning but I doubt very much I'll attempt to ride in it but I might as well take it up to the yard and sit it on him.

The DT leather curved girth that they sent is very nice though....just thought I'd mention that :)

Not overly impressed with the Equitex pad though, its nice quality and that but I was expecting a thick special treelass sort of pad but its just the same as spongy numnah, thought it would have more of a built in shimmering kinda thing or be extra padded to raise the saddle but its not.

Oh well, you don't know unless you try.

I'm not knocking DT, they have sent everything as discussed and have been very helpful but I think they perhaps thought he was smaller than he is and I expected the pad to be something different to what it actually is.

Right bed time it is, shall update tomorrow.
