I was very disappointed in the first programme when aerial filming of wild horses, Martin Clunes explained that the horses were running out of fear and the next moment enthusiastically suggested flying in for a closer look. :(

When I saw what was to be the content of the second programme, I didn't bother to watch.

All very disappointing in my opinion. :(

I loved the show, and Martin Clunes is such a nice bloke. I thought it was really nice when the Kazaks offered Martin one of those little horses as a gift - shame he couldn't go on the plane home!

Sorry for re-opening and joining this thread so late. I had the two programmes taped on sky + and have just watched them back to back tonight!

First of all I did thoroughly enjoy the two programmes, and it made for a highly enjoyable evenings light entertainment. I think it did what it set out to do ... give both the (horsey and non-horsey) viewer a brief and interesting view into a few different cultures and how they use/enjoy their horses. I thought the few minutes with Monty Roberts was excellent. :)

However...I did cringe a little at a few of Martins off the cuff comments, which probably could have been edited better ('the helicopter is spooking the horses'' followed by ''let’s see if we can get closer'' and ''the Kazak horses condition is all excellent'' which there were, apart from the Skinny little one Martin then sits on straight after the previous comment is mentioned. Also, some of the comments at the football stadium about the people, were a bit unnecessary, I thought.
I thought that the programme could easily have been more interesting if a little more thought had been put into asking a few more insightful questions. I liked Martin Clunes as the presenter, but I wonder if he wouldn't have made a better program if he'd have enlisted an experienced off camera assistant/s, to advise him on the questions and how to reply. He could have still kept his own sentiment within the program.
I think Chester is cute! Shame it was only two programmes long. I hope there is more to come.
