I have made the decision to put Beany out on loan for the rest of my degree...only a few months left but have decided I have to focus on one thing as I am struggling to juggle things around especially when it comes to evening yards as it puts a dent of about 3-4 hours in my work time by the time I have eaten etc.
Basically a very good friend of mine was in search of a companion horse so I have lent her Benson...she is going to exercise him for me as well so its much better for him in the long run and I can still go and ride him whenever I like as he will only be down the road.
I am going to miss my beany for the next few months...don't know what I am going to do with myself...am sad about it all. I know its only a short term loan but its awful...feel so bad.

Can people please just reassure me that its the best thing to do...

Thanks guys

Claire x

Awww ((hugs))

I think it's the right thing. Focus on your degree, kick ass and you will be able to spoil him rotten when you get him back x

Sometimes in life one has to prioritise. That time has come for you, and I am certain you have done the right thing and you will thank yourself a few months from now. Horsie will be fine, and you can concentrate just for a while on your important studies. Don't feel bad; you have really no choice if you are to succeed. x

Sounds very sensible and like you say it will only be a few months. Once you have your degree you can get a job that pays a squillion pounds and keep him in the luxury to which he has become accustomed!

Thanks guys...just feel so bad about it...had Beany since he was 2 years old and never really left him since and he is now 10!!

Not sure about the squillion pound paying job though Happy Horse...nice to dream though huh!!! hehe!!

Big Hugs.

You have done the right thing. Concentration on your degree and then have the rest of the summer to play with Benson. You can still see him and ride him which is great and you know he will be looked after well.
It is only a few months after all.

Don't be sad, it'll be a real weight off your mind, and he'l love having a lazy Summer. Sounds like an extremely sensible thing to do.

Thanks IC...

Thanks M...I am quite sure he will not protest to the lazy summer!! As long as he has food...way to a cobs heart is though his stomach afterall!! hehe!!

Oh Beans....its only short term. Think of it as Bensons spring holidays. You'll be back together in no time at all.

Big Hugs

I am sure B will be fine - sounds like a great idea especially if you are only doing a bit of both and none of it properly. If you have a trusted friend who you know will take great care of him then you are onto a winner.

Coolio...Thanks Lec...yeh she is a very good friend and I know she will treat him fantastically and at the same time take none of his temper tantrums! hehe!!

He's a lovely looking horse (presume he's the one in your sig?)

Sounds like you are doing the right thing - you're lucky that he's going somewhere nice with someone you trust - and after all you can still see him and ride him too. You'll miss him like mad to begin with but at least you can concentrate on the degree - short term pain for long term gain, and all that. ((Hugs)) for now and you can look forward to having him back in the summer.

Thanks butterbean...yeh he is the one in my signature. Your right...will miss him loads, but like you said...short term pain for long term gain...I like that phrase!

Definitely a good decision. I was horseless when I did my degree and I dont know that I would have coped juggling the two. Loaning is the best option and its not for long.

Hugs to you for a tough choice

Awww Claire, I know how awful you must be feeling right now, but of course it's the right thing to do.

You need time to study without stressing and running around, and Benson needs a relaxed and happy carer who has time for him.

This way, you both end up winners.

Big hugs xxx

Hugs Hunny.
I think youve done the right thing, if i had space I would have loved to have looked after Beefcake and get him ready for the summer shows.

Vxx

Thanks Dubs and BBs...its been a tough choice...will be sad 2mor when he goes but I know its for the best...keep telling myself its only a few months!

BBs you practically have your own herd to look after as it is! Let alone a beefcake coming along and abliterating the party!! lol x

Good luck with your final few months Claire and big hugs - sounds like a good decision. I did my final year while juggling horses and writing my Msc and it was a big mistake. I was a zombie in the end. really not worth it as although I finished with a good mark my horses didn't get enough attention. I felt guilty if I wasn't riding/caring for them and when riding or in the stables I felt guilty I wasn't reading/writing and it was all a bit of a pain.
Good luck and as you said it's only for a few months and only down the road.
