Just to clarify (re Poseidon rumour)...

I wasn't sure whether to post about this or not, but decided it would be best to clarify things.

I received this PM after posting about Tobago's first foal winning British National Champion at the national Arab show:

"Congratulations on Tobago`s colt going BNC......BUT can I just clarify something? Was he the only horse forward in this class?
I have had an e.mail and numerous calls to say he was.
If that is the case then it is a very hollow victory."

So there has clearly been a rumour going round. Just to set the record straight: Poseidon was the only foal in the 'weaned or orphan foal' class. He then went on into the championship, up against ALL the other first- and second-placed foals from ALL the foal classes at the national show, and he beat them ALL to win the national championship.

This was hardly a 'hollow victory'!!!

I hope this is all now clear and there will be no more unfounded rumours.

As I don't know where the rumours originated, I will post this in Breeding and Picture Gallery as well.

I'm not angry, but it is rather sad that people are so quick to believe unpleasant and totally unfounded rumours, don't you think?

Here is Poseidon, just so that anyone who missed this knows who we are talking about (and because he's cute)!

I thought you already clarified all of this in the thread about the win?
http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/sh...rue#Post3442278

I would let it go...who cares what "rumours" are going around and nobody would even know about the PM if it had not been posted again and again. How does one PM stating they had an email and a few calls constitute a major rumour? Maybe it is just one person who is full of it? Why would all of these people be contacting this one person about YOUR horses foal? Seems fishy to me

Do not be salty about what was said, maybe it was just jealousy? Obviously those in the know will know how it was won and those that do not know must not matter surely?

Fair point. But there were no further responses on that PG thread and it had dropped off the board, so I just wanted to set things straight in case anyone was still in any doubt.

I should have said (as I did on the original PG thread) that I am very grateful to the person who PM'd me for doing this by PM and not on the forum - that was very decent of her.

It's probably a bit pathetic of me to want to set this straight, I know. But it is also kind of interesting how easily things get distorted or misinterpreted and rumours start, don't you think?

Numerous calls and e-mails?

Must be some very green eyes out there.

Good for you setting the record straight, I'd have done the same.

Beautiful foal.

Most rumours start out of jealousy and your peers that matter will know the facts. No matter what title any of the horses gain they are beautiful and wonderful and nobody can deny that no matter how many foals they stand up against or who emails who

Looking forward to more photos of these wonderful offspring!

Kate some people just need to get a life. Maybe it made them feel better talking Poseidon down like that? More fool them.

Thanks everyone.

ISH_Mad - LOL It's probably me that needs to get a life, instead of worrying about a silly rumour!

The funny thing is that Poseidon's win got a big write-up in H&H, photo and everything - they would hardly give him that for winning a 'walkover' class!

The whole thing is ludicrous - but maybe as you say some people delight in taking the shine off others' achievements. I'm sure such people are in a tiny minority on here, though!

And for what it's worth, I don't think the person who PM'd me is one of them - I don't know her, but I think maybe she was genuinely confused and wanted clarification. I hope so, anyway.

Jealousy is all it is....and another thing, even if he was the only one in the class that doesn't mean he wins by default! I was the only person in the 4yo mare class with Shettie once, judge gave me first but said she wouldn't have done if she wasn't worthy of going forward into the championship, she could've easily put us 3rd or 4th.

Congrats BTW

it's not pathetic of you to want to put this straight at all kate. As others have said its jealously, pure and simple.Tobago's foals are all gorgeous and the added bonus being i get to see one every day!

Thank you! That's a good point. They operate the same rule at Arab shows - the horse only goes forward to the championship if the judges deem it worthy of this.

And anyway, the fact that he beat all the others in the championship speaks for itself!
wink.gif

There were lots of foals in the other foal classes, by the way - it's just that there aren't many foals old enough to be weaned by the end of July.

Aha! I've just seen your location - Suffolk - from which I deduce with astounding perspicacity that the Tobago foal in question is......zoeshiloh's superstar PBA, Ayemkay Emae! Sherlock Holmes eat your heart out!

I'm going to look really foolish if I'm wrong and it's another foal! But I'm pretty sure Emae is the only Tobagoling in Suffolk...

How is the dear little minx? Last I heard from Zoe was that she'd taken to jumping out of her field - over 4 ft fences!?!

Oooh Ottinmeg I've just snooped through your posts to see if I was right about Emae and found this photo you took of her at a show:

Emaerearing.jpg

Do you have any more pics of her? And if so, could you send them to me?

Sorry - this is totally off-topic, but I assume one is allowed to digress a bit on one's own threads?
