just wanted some bitting advice

hi i have a tb not generally strong amd iv tried a few bits over the years he goes best in a double jointed bit and he hates plastic happy mouth and hes ok with a straight bar but takes hold of it..... i have tried a mates waterford gag on snaffle and he seems great really light and i had breaks and he didnt lean when ibhalf halted.... is this the way to go in either a pelham or snaffle??

I'm not sure what you mean by pelham or snaffle, when he went well the the gag?

I always try a snaffle with a thin mouthpiece if they tend to lean... obviously give them nothing to lean on as a general rule if they want to lean...but having just a slightly thinner mouthpiece just sharpens it slightly and means you still then have a bit which is dressage legal etc. For schooling [if and when I do!], I always use a thin bradoon taken off one of the double show bridles.

sorry i wasnt very clear... i didnt use the other rings on the gag just the snaffle part as i dnt like gags as they dnt work on him he just gets away from them plus i dont like having no contact with the mouth. im light handed never harsh and he gies well in the pelham i have with is straight mouth peith for hacking and i have a snaffle for everything else... so was wondering do i get a waterford pelham or a snaffle as im nt sure ifni will still have the extr breaks i will need if i use a waterford snaffle out hacking?.. sirry for confusion x
