Just watched my daughter.....

Gallop her pony round our 6 acre stubble field. (yes is our land so full permission from the farmer )
This is on a pony who this time last year she wouldn't go out of a walk after a particularly nasty bucking off incident and I wanted to sell him.
For some reason this summer they've just clicked and she flies around on him now. That's all I wanted for her, not to be an eventer or an Olympian but to feel that thrill of the wind in your face and the feeling of flying

Yes I was very proud. When I mentioned selling him she just was devastated so I said well if we're keeping him you'll have to master him, and she did. I just let her get on with it. He stopped being naughty and she grew in confidence and now they're a team

Yes it's very hard letting them go into the big wide world!! We've certainly had some setbacks once she came off the lead but I found it was best to go at my daughters pace. She decided when she was ready to do what. At the beginning of the summer I was still leading her from my horse out hacking, now a few months on she leads the way across the stubble fields with me trying to keep up! But it was all done at her pace when she was ready. Your son will get there, it just takes time x

Awesome! I know the feeling, we are not quite at the galloping round stage yet but my daughters back on her pony after lots of problems and its the best thing.

My daughter reached the same stage last year and even went round a xc course on her own earlier this year!
Then a couple of weeks ago on holiday we both went on a beach gallop

Amazing the difference a year makes, my friends daughter was the same with her jumping and then suddenly she was fine and this March competed and was placed in the Show Hunter ring.

That's brilliant. It's what it's all about. I just watched my two daughters race each other up a hill shouting with laughter. They came back down and pleaded to do it again. Made me feel so happy.

Great news....know exactly how you feel....6months ago my daughter didn't want to ride her pony but didn't want to swap or sell him either. I watched her trotting around the paddock the other day dealing with him napping to the gate without batting an eyelid . Long way to go but she's smiling which is the main thing.
