Sorry this may be long...will try to beark it up.

First noticed my boy was lame in his nearside front leg 4 weeks ago - ever so slightly. Rested him then took him out a few days later for a walk and little trot on roads - sound, no problem at all. The following Friday we went for our lesson again thinking everything was ok but this time he was more lame...so went home called the vet.

Vet came out and said no heat, no swelling, no obvious pain - did flexion tests and thought he got a bit better. Put him on bute for a week and said to see what happened after that.

Meantime he stood on something in the field in the other front foot and so went lame on that - needed box rest and poulticing. This is all sorted now.

Also had the farrier out this week to look at his feet - he is longer in the toe and has more of a dropped heel on the original lame leg but I've only had him about 5 months so not sure if this is normal for him and the other one is the same just not to the same extent. Farrier has shoed him to support the heel and we're going to work on getting them up.

Farrier and I jogged him up and there was no sign of lameness - was very pleased. That was Wed.

He went out yesterday for the first time since box rest - lead him out to his pals, he danced around for a bit but settled almost immediately.

Took him out today feeling very optimistic just for a short ride round the block. Popped him into trot and sadly found he is lame again.

Got back to the stable, checked his feet, legs - nothing. Trotted him up and sure enough he's lame again.

Someone on the yard has suggested it may be his back?

Not sure what to do - had the vet out twice now, they are coming again on Thurs to do his teeth so not sure to wait until then or just get them back out.

Feeling very very dispondent about it all and worried about the poor chap.

Have you had him scanned or xrayed? If there's no obvious signs on the outside then sounds like you'll have to get a look what's going on inside.
