Just when thing get good I fall!!!

So have got my mare back from training on a napping issue and have been having a ball with her hasnt put one hoof wrong since getting her back. So last night was riding and jumped 1m the biggest Iv ever jumped and everything was going well untill i jumped straw bales (yes about 40cm jump) and she jumps it funny resulting in lose of stirrups and exit via the back door!! lol landing on my elbow which seemed fine at time so carried on jumping another 1m fence and hacked home. well now I cant move my arm at all swollen and very sore so think im going to have to bear the brunt of a&e best was i was there only 4 weeks ago with a sprained ankle after a fall! whats has everyone elses worst injuries been and do u ever just feel like its just not worth it anymore! so annoyed at myself was just a stupid pony club fall!

I fell off the other day for the most absurd reason. I was jumping a dog-leg double of corners about 80cm high and maybe 90cm wide at the widest point. Pony in all his extreme common sense decides to ignore me and cut off the line to the second part, meeting it at the widest point, right next to wing (big combi block). I'd already clipped the wing with my foot once and didn't want to get off and rebuilt it again, so I swung my lower leg right back to try and avoid it. Somewhere in the process I lost control of the limb / wasn't paying attention / generally did something stupid and performed a lovely speed dismount on the far side of the jump.

I've never fallen off quite like that before and it's really messed up my confidence - not my confidence in my horse, but confidence in myself. I no longer trust myself not to throw myself off for no apparent reason Odd There's no accounting for these things!

I've had a couple of "serious" injuries, one with my last lad who broke my back after a bronking fit and me having to have a spinal fusion (now have metal in my last 3 vertebrae) and a stupid fall off my current youngster where I broke my leg in 3 places (I'm still not sure how on earth I managed to fall off, we came round a bend to the jump lost my stirrup and we landed over the fence with me in a crumpled heap the other side lol). These things will always happen with horses, it's just a case of dusting yourself back off, having a strong alcoholic beverage and getting on with it .

note the raised trotting pole aka 'small jump' that cauesd the reaction, I fell off and landed on my feet but still had hold of my reins much to the ponys horror.

especally when he had been jumping this a few days before

That knocked us both for a bit as he hurt him self in the acrobatics in first photo so had to have some time off so we lost trust in each other.
