Just when things were going well, everything goes completely wrong. A&E visit!!!!

Oh god poor you! What a freak accideant and sounds seriously painfull! I hope they are giving you lots of strong drugs and that the bands & screws work - will keep my fingers crossed and sending loads of get well <<<vibes>>> your way!

No ideas on the food front, but with the horses - just pop them on a plane to Aus, they'll be right mate! ;)

God you poor thing - sounds v painful! I hope you recover very quickly and that you like milkshake! I make a reallly good cauliflower and cheddar soup that is smooth - ask your Mum if she will make it for you (its a Delia recipe!).

Ouch sounds horrific!! Hope everything goes well and you don't need further surgery. Sounds unlucky that you had a fracture-dislocation rather than just fracture as its much more complicated. I don't know much about maxfax but in ortho generally the definitive management such as plating often has a speedier recovery although it is initially more invasive than the more conservative measures so don't get too down if you end up needing more surgery.....may mean you are back to working order sooner!

there have been lots of good advice about food etc on here!

I would recommend catching up on tv shows you never get to watch or thsoe you can watch back to back....i recommend 24 (highly addictive) and www.sidereel.com and ww.surfthechannel.com you can stream loads of shows and films

also international velvet always a good film to watch!

Sending positive vibes for speedy recovery xxx

Ouch! Hope the painkillers are good!

How about mashed swede and carrots, mushy peas, mashed cauliflower, baked apple mashed.

Hope the boredome isn't worse than the pain :o

Poor you. On he food front I work with children with special needs, a lot of whom can't eat solids believe me, I have yet to find something that can't be blended! Just buy a really good blender and chuck it in with some appropriate sauce and you're good to go. Also second the fortisips/slimfast etc. really good for getting you vits and mins :)

Ouch! What a bugger :( I know the feeling, I got kicked in the face as a teenager (by a person at kickboxing) and lived off smoothies and baby food for weeks! 10 years on I still have problems and can't open my mouth very wide (fellatio is not an option these days just to lower the tone ;)). Hope you don't get too bored :)

Poor you - how about Ensure drinks? They are fruit flavoured and quite high calorie so you can get a lot of nutrition from one or two a day in addition to whatever else you want to eat. Hope you feel better soon!

You poor thing, that sounds horrible :-(

No food ideas but how about making yourself some nice cocktails that you can drink with a straw? Will help make you feel better!

Ouchie!

I work in said operating theatres and saw your name up just as I was finishing work at 6 and had wondered what had happened :( what a freak accident and sounds horrendously painful!

sending you healing vibes and as for the food.....hmmm i guess its gonna be soup all round for bit - I know you say you only like tomato but there are some really yummy ones about now particularly the fresh potted ones....

hope you start feeling better soon x

Friend who had her jaw plated recommended cadbury dairy buttons small enough to fit in and melt in the mouth.

Hope you make a good recovery from here on in.

Super get well soon vibes heading your way!

I completely sympathise having completely smashed up my lower jaw as a child (riding accident) and having a full headbrace and liquidised christmas lunch (as mentioned above!) is not something I would wish to repeat! Last year I had facial surgery involving reconstruction of the upper jaw on the same side, and recovery time to normal eating and function was approx 4-5 weeks.

Best advice is to drink lots of water/squash etc, keep hydrated, you underestimate how much you sunconsciously consume water etc through the day even with meals. plus also if you swirl some mouthwash etc it can almost emulate having clean teeth!!

I lived on scrambled eggs with double cream for lunch everyday; calorific to keep the weight on but still dropped nearly 2 stone over a month.
Ditto baby food, milk, readybrek, liquid desserts, super noodles, sharwoods udon noodles with soy sauce can be a nice snack. If you can stomach the complan stuff then go for it; i personally disliked the powdery taste of it even when mixed up.
Otherwise nesquik milkshakes are good for getting protein into you. Covent garden soups are good, nothing with beans in though as choking risk while unable to chew and once you can chew the husks stick in teeth....really annoying when you can't get a toothbrush in there!!

My guilty pleasure was 'lemon meringues'...mashed up meringue nests with lemon curd...melt in the mouth and small enough to put on the tip of a teaspoon!

RE: horses, try and find someone through pony club/riding club etc.
Even if just keeping ticking over.
I think I am quite near you so if really stuck PM me and I'll see what I can come up with.

Quick healing vibes for a speedy recovery...if not already a member def join blockbuster/lovefilm!!

Xx
