Jack has been doing so well on boxrest, he is really calm and well behaved, we are almost to the first milestone the 6 week check up next week. Tonight I get there and he has a swollen hind leg :( spoken to the vet and they think possible lymphangitus/cellulitus because he has been on boxrest :( such a dammed if you do dammed if you don't moment. He has to move as little as possible to give the fracture the best chance of healing properly but as the vet said "normally i would have you marching around until the swelling went down" Just feeling a bit down about it all. Just want my pony fixed, can we have some healing vibes please?

Hm, all the vibes got me thinking of the horsewear ice vibe boots. Maybe something for him to try?

Get Well soon vibes from Canada!

Thanks guys. Baydame, would be a brilliant idea except with the on going boxrest costs I can't afford them. Fingers crossed for some improvement this morning

Know how you feel, it just sucks. Mine got kicked and fractured his knee, he doesnt box rest well, think box walking, weaving so i was really pleased when he was quite settled. Other than when the other horses changed field to the one across from his stable when he reverted back to spining round his box it was going fine and everything was healing well and he back out on limited turnout (my vet wanted him to move a bit from about a month after the fracture) unfortunately he then did a ligament in the same knee one night, gutted wasnt the word. That combined with damage done by the fracture has ended his jumping career and his ridden one isnt looking too peachy either.
Its so frustrating when you have other things pop up and it sets you back, i've had so many with mine over the last year so i know how your feeling. Loads of healing vibes and best of luck.

Lots of vibes on the way. Are you allowed to use bandages to reduce swelling at all? Fly had awful cellulitis this time last year, hock like a football but it did clear up by itself after a few worried calls to the vet and a quick visit.

Fingers crossed for you. Xxx

My old horse had the same....most stressful period of my life especially as he didn't "do" box rest. He got cellulitis and needed injections into his rump everyday which I did to save the vet coming out.

Time passed, the infection resolved, the fracture healed and normality returned.

Take a deep breath, chin up...you will get through it:)

Thank you, you are all so kind. Not sure re bandages, the vet didn't suggest them. I think not because he has heat in the leg. Hippona, I hope we don't have to inject him as he is really bad with needles, we are currently syringing liquid antibiotics (can't remember the name) Fingers crossed, I will stop being grumpy now lol
