Kalli being PTS next week. Hard decision: is it the right one?

To be fair to Dancing Queen the OP didn't sound /at all/ impressed with the first vets' (lack of) diagnosis and PTS is a big decision to take based on an opinion you don't totally trust. I believe the reason for not getting as (m)any other(s) as OP would have liked was down to lack of referrals and insurance not paying although there was a last-ditch look by a physio.

Personally I'd be blowing the money out of my own pocket (and turning away fora w hile of no joy and horse not in continuing pain) if the horse was mine although that isn't OP's situation.

Kalli was PTS this morning.

We didn't/couldn't find the root cause but both felt she was in pain.

Yesterday day we went to the beach (where she struggled to trot and wanted to, but couldn't, canter:-() and she had lovely time splashing (her favourite activity ever) to her hearts content.

Today she went to sleep on the grass in the sun.

Rest in peace Karebear, big clumsy, gentle much-loved heffalump.

Sorry I haven't read all the way through but is it Woollands Equine the physio you would like to use ? As I have used Jo in the past with only telling my vet that I was going to use her, as long as the vet was aware that Jo was working on her then she was happy to go ahead. However I wasn't using my insurance but it may be worth the visit alone to see what Jo can make of her as I have found her brilliant for 3 of mine.

Edited to say - Sorry just looked a few entrys up, well done for making the tough decision and making her final day the best possible xx

Thank you for your kind thoughts. My phone's being playing silly buggers so not had a chance to reply.

Still doesn't seem very real: keep thinking it's just temporary:(

She did indeed have a lovely last day, just walking about and splashing, and a lovely way to remember her. It's already hard to remember how stressed and upset she'd get if asked to canter as she looks so happy and relaxed :(

She knows what just round the corner
