Hi

I am trying to reassemble my new Kan bp (well, Wendy had to send me a replacement cover because I popped the zip on the first one and I'm trying to fit the new cover!)... I thought I'd remembered where all the straps and bits go from looking as I took the last cover off, but I've got in a right pickle with the internal waist elastic belt thingy and where it's supposed to velcro together - does anyone have their Kan to hand and can tell me? It's driving me bonkers! Inside or outside the cover? Or does it just loop round your waist like a belt (I don't think it does?) Argh!

Thank you!!!

Thanks w_m!! Thanks for going out to the car! V. kind of you :-)

So do the ends just come out from under the cover through those slits and the ends just hang loose rather than needing to be done up round your waist? Or do you do yours up round your waist? :-)

No problem! They come out the slots, then do up round your waist I assume! I always do mine up anyway as I find it makes it slightly easier to put on!!! I can see why you popped the zip on the first, struggle to do zip up on mine sometimes! Fits like a glove when on but always seem to struggle with zipping up. I've only worn it a handful of times though so I may get the knack soon!! Xx

Can't help, but the thread made me smile as the mothership literally just two minutes ago rang me to tell me that she was talking to a friend of hers today about my new horse, and her friend was telling her about the body protector her daughter designed. Turns out it was Wendy's mother, and my own mothership just pointed me to the kanteq website. I'd never heard of them but they look good, just a bit too pricey for me right now.

The mothership would see this as fate signalling that I should splash out on one. I see this as fate telling the mothership she should splash out on one for me :D

Definately point out to mother that possibly a bit pricey but a necessity so it would make her a very good mother if she bought you one, thinking of the risks her poor daughter takes with riding classed by some as an extreme sport!

Mine was partially bought by my parents as an Xmas pressie, prefered it to my non horsey dads suggestion of a shotgun "to sort that ********* loopy horse out" for me, after my mare decided I needed to look at the road a little closer!

I can't express how much I love mine, even though I've only ridden in it a few times, it's soooo much comfier than any other bp I've ever tried, cuz it's designed for me! And wendy has the best customer service ethics. I ordered mine in dec, didn't arrive til late jan cuz of snow, but she was so apologetic and threw in the medical card shoulder pads for free (had only ordered the basic.) completely not her fault that I ordered it during the snow but she was amazing, keeping me up to date on progress etc!

So do you guys like your Kans? I looked at them and was going to buy but someone told me they only fit a certain shape, perhaps are quite long in the body, also didnt like the fact the shoulder pads didnt come off.
Ive heard better reviews for the racesafe 2010, anyone tried them both?

Sorry to totally go off topic but hoping you managed to get the BP back together :)

welsh_monster, that is very much the line I'm taking. She did say she'd be a lot happier if I had one. Well I'm a selfless kind of person and would only love to make her happy, never mind the fact that she'd be supporting her friend's daughter's business :D

That also sounds very much like something my father would say, the only thing he knows about horses being "they bite at one end, crap at the other and kick at all four corners".

I think the mothership certainly sounds like she might be for turning. :-) They are more expensive, but feel like a completely different kind of BP to most of the others and don't need replacing when you've had a bash up. There's another thread on here by someone who had a fall in theirs explaining all the excellent things various paramedics have said when they've seen the design of it.

I bought mine because otherwise the OH was threatening to fashion me some kind of "roll cage" as he called it, probably out of three-be-two or something.

It's really comfortable in terms of shape, though to be honest, I'm thinking I might need to go up a size as I think it's too snug. I know you have to try them a few times to get the cover to loosen up, but I think it's prob just a bit too tight. Will try riding in it again tomorrow. Last week it was embarrassing. First one had just arrived, took it with me to jumping lesson...
RI: 'ooh wow, that looks posh, let's have a look'
ME: 'yar it's like amazing and all technical foam stuff you can hit with a hammer and marvellous this that and the other... super well reviewed, marvellous customer service...'
Was on the horse precisely fifteen seconds before the zip burst and stuck, and RI had to manhandle me VERY unceremoniously out of it via the shoulder, inch by inch in the middle of the manege.

Incidentally, no fault of the Kan at all, just a duff zip and all exchanged no problem!

PS I don't think I'm long in the body and the length is fine for me. Plus you can get the length trimmed (or even some HHOers have trimmed theirs themselves). I think it's probably more because it is shaped / moulded into the small of your back in a different way from most so might feel a bit alien, or not be exactly the right curve in the right place for some people? Good customer service though so if it isn't right they'll either work with you until it is, or I'm sure refund easily etc, they're very keen to get the customer service right.

They are by no means long in the back, I'm short but my legs are definately the longest bit!! The shoulders are removable, just 2 straps of Velcro to attatch!

Wendy will send you a couple to try on if needs be but I just ordered mine of the website with basic measurements, wendy rang me to confirm. Then when it arrived.....fits perfectly! Thought it was a tad tight until I read that your only supposed to wear t-shirt underneath! Not entirely sure why but I expect it is to do with being fitted so well at the small of your back!

I feel like it supports me and helps my position, all other bp's I've tried did the opposite!
