I've booked in for an RoR training clinic with Karen Dixon. I'm so, so nervous. My horse is basically a complete beginner, having had a bad life previously. Now I've got him, we're completely back to basics, transitions, circles, poles on the ground. He's a nervy jumper, but brilliant once he's confident. He's got good breeding, from p2p and national hunt. Only 6 years old.

Is this too basic? It's only £25 and a 10minute hack down the road, which is why I want to take him. What is Karen like?

I don't want to turn up and everyone laugh because he's pretty much still just a racing-type TB.

no idea but as she is focusing on racehorses then she must have seen it all before! plus which she teaches at a girls school so again - must have seen it all before. So instead of worrying, focus on what a great opportunity you have to review your basics with a really good and experienced trainer who will really help you and make sure you are on the right track. Full (and glowing!) report expected!

I'd really like to know what she's like. I used to work at a yard in Durham where her mum used to do pre-hunting and xc clinics and she was quite scary! Not to put you off, I've seen Karen out and about at various events with her children and she seems really nice. Have a great time! I've just registered with RoR, must look on their website for clinics

I have been to a clinic with her and although yes, she is pretty scary, she gave me tons of confidence and passed on excellent advice, my horse was nothing obedient either, she really does not mind, go for it, enjoy!
