Thank you to katenjack and all of you who posted on this thread about getting the correct canter lead;
Original thread
I failed to get hold of my own instructor AGAIN today (she's brilliant but even more ditsy than me, so I haven't been able to arrange a lesson with her for a good few weeks now), and F's canter has been broken for about 3 weeks - well, he CAN canter, very enthusiastically, but suddenly its been back to left lead only.
So I took matters into my own hands and religiously read that thread, and tried everything out. Funny moments when I looked over my outside shoulder (F - "do you want me to jump the fence? or just to canter really short upright strides (still wrong leg)?"
) and one wound up horse and knackered rider later, it was time for one last attempt - the jump in a corner. IT WORKED!!! I'm SO relieved.
So thank you to you lot for all the suggestions, its not just useful to the original poster and I am very grateful.
