Agreed again but she should not be appealing to younger riders with trying to sell her merchandise.
 
The thing is the KP brand targets young female riders - therefore everything she does will be seen as both related to her brand and as a role model to the young female riders she targets with her clothes and books. Am I right in thinking she was competing at prelim last year? so chances are she won't be grand prix yet, even with a great horse. So yes, she annoys me by not wearing a hat, but then so does the queen, immensley so.
 
it all comes back to the eternal hat debate doesn't it....personally i always wear my hat and always have done. but i don't judge people who don't- its their decision, yes it might be a stupid decision if they fall off and mash their heads but still their decision - most pros don't wear hats unless they have to (say in competition) but people aren't on here wingeing...most SJers for example whip their hats off after winning a class and gallop around celebrating, but people don't moan. there is also the issue that for DR you can wear a beagler which provides about as much protection as a jelly baby in most cases unless VERY well fitted.

the other issue is that should KP be wearing a hat just because she is a 'role model'? well it would concern me if my children (that is my imagined children

) saw her as a role model. i actually like KP a lot but i think a lot of other things she does are more of a concern for a 'role model' than not wearing a hat

I meant in the 'horsey' world - I never see pics everywhere of her riding without a hat or behaving badly when at high profile equestrian events - the races for example LOL I've no doubt she's probably been caught doing things she shouldn't but she's not quite as out there as KP.
