Katie Price Dressage test video

FGS!!! I noticed that only part of my post was quoted. Perhaps go back and read the whole post

Where did I say I could do better?

sorry, I wasnt quoting YOU. I was actually agreeing with what someone else said (ie the person I DID quote

) and my comments regarding people being better riders was aimed as a whole, not specifically at YOU. Chill!

around but I think she needs the treatment my instructor gave me - baling twine handcuffs!

[/ QUOTE ]

How does that work?

As I would say to anyone just starting out, fair play to her!

I think that is why people have been slightly disappointed in her riding though Tharg; she is not a novice rider apparently ... and she is planning to ride in the Olympics in 2012 ...

Nope, the Red Tops said that, I am pretty sure Katie has never made that comment herself! "Jordan Aims For 2012" makes a better headline than "Jordan Does A Prelim Dressage Test"

Yes for sure! Mind you I read most of the "updates" on HHO, does this mean we have a large proportion of Red Top readers on here??

All I can say is that if an average joe rather than KP had turned up to their first unaff prelim on a PSG horse having been riding for a number of years and training with a top trainer the comments on this thread would have been more along the lines of 'All the gear, no idea'
Just because the person in question happens to be a celeb should not change this perception. Sadly it does seem to.

I reckon her PR machine did a wonderfull job for her. Just look at all the interest this ONE test has caused

Sorry its been a long day and I'm not sure what you are getting at?

You said 'why should she be different to any other person on here' and I was pointing out that there are differences the main one being that she is in the papers saying she wants to compete in the next Olympics. Pair that with publicity about her having this uber horse for her birthday and yes I'm suprised she rides like the clip I've just seen?

I have no interest in arguing with you over something so trivial...I am no great fan of Jordan but I do think any publicity given to dressage is a good thing and Jordan is a publicity machine and knows just how to work the press so there are always going to be press reports.....accurate and inaccurate.

If you read your post back you criticse her because 'the papers say' she wants to compete at the next olympics, however there are also stories refuting she said anything of the sort. If you check the dressage results you will find that her uber dressage horse is far from uber....good but not exceptional, and the bottom line is she still has to ride it.

Right that bit said, my main point is....what has any of that to do with how she rides her first prelim test....is it relevant?

Just what I was going to say. The video I saw was obviously a home one, not professional, so she didn't necessarily alert the media. Her name is quite well known, it is possible someone leaked to the press after she entered. I can't really tell whether it was a good test or not, and none of us has ridden her horse so can't tell how easy or not it is.

It is fazed, btw, not phased. As in bothered, not in sequences.

Completely and utterly agree Timefaulter!!! I cannot understand how anyone is getting past the fact that that wasnt a great test!!

AT the end of the day, SHE brought the horse SHE would have told the cameras about it and she has been riding for a long time!! SO I'm sorry, buit all the excuses for her not riding very well fall flat IMHO!!

Yes I totally agree that her getting publicity for the sport is a good thing.

I still maintain that if she said it or not, the reports about her wanting to be in the next Olympics and the impression I had got of her horsewoman skills I was suprised she wasn't better than she was when I saw the video [shrugs] . And yes I think it's totally relevant to how she rides in her first prelim as because I said before it has set peoples (mine anyway) expections. I'm not the only one who didn't think the video was great and as I said in each of my other posts I'm not knocking her for having a go I was just genuinely suprised by the quality.

Well done Katie. Looks like she's gone out and got herself a nice School Master with which to start her dressage career. A little wobbly at times, but the horse clearly has quite some movement - imagine how they'll look together in a year or so's time.

Brilliant! I really admire her.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree. It's nerve wracking enough entering your first competition without having the UKs media there to analyze every detail. Well done to her!
