I often cant be bothered with Katie Price but I just read this. I think she was very clever to put her friend into the recovery position if she needed it.

I hope her friend is ok, it sounds like a nasty fall if she had to airlifted. Wonder what happened.

And just to stir I hope they were both wearing hats. I have seen lots of pictures of Katie on horseback and not wearing hats. However if I suspected someone had hurt their back I would not put them into a recovery position.

obviously don't know the details but with a suspected back injury you should NOT move the patient if at all possible, putting someone into recovery position can do a lot damage.. hope she is ok, and credit to the air ambulance, they do such a fantastic job.
 
Thank goodness.. at least she wasn't riding alone - a good friend of mine suffered pretty bad spinal injuries a few years ago - she was out riding on her own and not found for some time.

I really don't think anyone is having a go at Katie here, it just needs to be made clear that if a back or neck injury is suspected, the casualty should not be moved unless absolutely necessary.
 
I think anyone would call an ambulance when someone is hurt, but how many people get thanked for it. Its an issue that has come up with me over the last couple of days. I was riding with a friend just over 8 weeks ago when we were all hit by a car, I lay on the road with a broken vertebrae(obviously not known at the time) but tammy who I was riding with was also hurt. but she coped with catching the horse she was riding, keeping the other horse, which was hers but I was riding him calm, phoning people from the yard to come and deal with the horses and phone the ambulance. I am not sure I would have been able to hold it all together to do that if our roles had been reversed, and, i am ashamed to say that its only when it was pointed out to me, I realised I had not said thank you to her for what she done for me, although she was also injured.

When I fell off a couple of years ago there were so many people came to my aid, in particular a dog walker came and held my hand and kept me talking and kept me calm. I never got her name but I put a thank you note in the local paper that week to say how much I appreciated it.

I so wish I had done that now, unfortunately I was in hospital for 3 weeks after the accident, and I didnt do it. I greatly regret that now.
 
Ypu could still do it, the people that helped will probably still be thinking of you! Better late than never.

You had a horrific accident as I recall, I'm sure that it wont frowned upon that it was a little while ago.

This was my note:
I would like to thank the dog walkers and walkers who were on Berkhamsted common sunday 17th August when I fell off a horse. I really appreciate everything that you did for me-keeping me calm and coherent (i hope!!). I was taken to Watford General Hospital where i had my whole body checked over, luckily I escaped with minor injuries but it could have been alot worse if I had moved, so thank you for keeping me calm and still. If I could thank you personally I would, but I didnt get anyones names or contact details. Thank you so so much.
