Katie Price Rant re her law suit

I have a KP jacket, I'm very girly and when I started riding again hubby bought me it ( he prob just googled 'pink horse riding jacket' and bought the first that came up!)...it's lovely and warm!
I'm not against her, not a fan either but my coat is lovely and warm! :)

donate some money to a welfare sanctuary. or sponsor a young rider or two with a horse / lessons / competitions. someone who has put the graft in but doesn't have the money to go forward. not someone who has the money and does horse riding as a 'hobby'

that would make the industry less 'elitest' and give some of us riders who were born without silver spoons in our mouths a bit of hope!

Should I be donating to charity and more talented riders because, woe, I am merely a hobby rider?
Or should I just give up altogether, and stop inflicting my halfheartedness on the noble world of equestrianism?

Oh, okay. So you have met and had lengthly horsey discussions with her too I suppose???

I dont claim to be the complete expert on horses, though I could argue that my friend comes pretty darn close. And im pretty sure that if I did disclose his name (which i wont) you would all agree his knowledge would be something alot of people would give their right and left arms for.

KP doesnt deserve the hate campaigns against her but isnt deserving to be hailed the saviour of the equine world either. There are many celebrities who know more about horses and do a heck of alot more for the equine world than Katie Price and they should be the ones starring at HOYS, not her.

No i cant say i have, did you say that you had? sorry i must have missed that.

But im sure she has friends, and people around her that with the knowledge people would give their arm and leg for too, doesnt make her any a less of a person because she doesnt know alot, neither did i when i first started out, im sure with time she too will learn what she needs to.

I don't think anybody was hailing her as a saviour of anything.

But, she has had horses for years and years and years - they use to be kept at her own home for pleasure, and having read interviews with her, she didn't have a mountain of grooms and did look after them herself. So with care generally comes knowledge. The one thing that no one can say about KP is she is stupid. She wouldn't have got to where she is by being so. She is a astute woman, who has choosen to avoid a well beaten path of what some of the general public think is social acceptable.

Are there that many "celebs" in the horse world that know more and are more deserving of a place? im struggling to think of any other than Toni Poole or Abbey Clancy - and i think they are only celebs through their other halfs and being widely known for being cheated on.
 
She does have grooms, her horses arent maintained by her (the groom she had with her was very nice by the way). She doesnt ever deny that either, and if anyone has watched her television show they have been clearly documented on there, she has also mentioned them in interviews.

I thought she was a nice woman, she listened and took in all my friend was saying about her and her horse and she even gave Domino a polo, which guarantees absolute devotion.

but just to correct, she hasnt owned horses from a young age, thats a misconception. She began working at a yard for riding lessons before and whilst her modelling career took off. The ownership came after that but I think she said she loaned a pony in her teens, I cant remember, this was back in the summer.

i dont understand why horsey people berate her to the extent they do, but from my own experiences in meeting her, not from what someone has told me or what ive read in a magazine, she hardly does any harm and is alot nicer than some people involved in horses that I have met. Maybe it would be a thought for H&H to publish an interview her, so the facts and the misconceptions can be ironed out.

I never said she had owned from a young age, but had done for years and years (which she has done). It was from watching her show (albeit a long long time ago), before she moved house and her horses were kept at home that I learnt she looked after them herself as much as her work schedule allowed.

I am pleased she was much nicer than other people though! Not a bad idea re a interview at all.

For me, being invited to HOYS is an honour and should be for people who are making a difference in a positive way or have outstanding talent. Not just because they happen to be a nice person. I can see why people would think-hang on-whats so special about her??? Ive owned horses much longer than KP, wheres my invite? kind of thing.

Her appearance caused alot of bad feeling, I couldnt go that year but friends who did said there were alot of unimpressed and miffed faces, and lots of disgruntled comments about it. I cant say, I wasnt there. But certainly from the threads on here alot of people are conflicted about it? would the same be said if Martin Clunes was given 15 minutes in the spotlight, He has owned horses for years, doesnt have a groom and works positively in the horseworld. ???

How dare she take in interest in horses.

Really, how very dare she enter the World of the Equine where every other member is an all knowing all perfect being that has never ever done anything wrong or incorrect and who all earn their livings in the most God fearing way possible. And to top it off how dare she allow those nasty nasty newspaper people to write stories about horses and bring HOYS back into the national mind.

Sheesh.

I'm orfff.

Hopped back to say "All the horses at HOYS are in tip top condition (condition scoring cards and weigh tapes available at the entrance); and none of the horses have ever been treated in anything less than the perfect way from their all knowledgeable and righteous owners and riders."

Yes they may have done more - but how much publicity has gone around through her appearing there - it benefited both her and the HOYS.. some of it may have been bad, some good, and you can bet probably alot more tickets were actually sold through her being there and the whole furore it caused. She was "special" because of the publicity she attracts.

No Martin Clunes wouldnt attract as much - why? because to be honest does anyone really read about him in the paper etc? he isnt as widely known.

Katie is a business woman, good on her i say for doing what shes doing and how. If i had the opportunity and the boobs i would do it. :-)
 
All I have to say is that going by some people's opinions, if she owns a horse then she MUST know everything there is to know about them. I mean, obviously, we all know it all, don't we?

IMO she's bringing the horse world to more people's attention, and that's no bad thing. After all the complaints about WEG not being mentioned at Sports Personality of the Year, you'd think a bit of publicity would be seen as positive. But no, because some people thinkk it's not the right kind of publicity. There are all sorts in the horse world, and so long as the horses don't suffer then I think they've all got equal right to be there.

If you are reffering to what I have put, no that is not what I ment or implied at all. What I am saying is, unlike the 'haters' who want to think the worst of her no matter what. You do not own horses for years without gleeming some kinda of knowledge, and as stated before she is not stupid at all.

Sorry, definitely wasn't aimed at anyone specific, just the fact that many people (both on here and in RL) seem to think that because they own a horse, they automatically know everything about them.

Horse and Hound should take notice of what a hot topic Katie Price is, and get her side of things. You never know, maybe plenty of unhorsey people would pick up a copy to see what she has to say and become hooked.

Either way, it would put to bed any misconceptions and ''hating'' without good reason.

I'm astounded :confused:, she is not my favourite celebrity but I would never start something like this. She is who she is, and while you have a right to your opinions there are some that, frankly, should be kept to yourself to allow you to keep some self-respect if nothing else. This is just gratuitous bitching and I'm surprised its allowed expecially with comments such as 'I hate her' - what very strong language to use for a person you don't actually know. You only know what the papers want you to know.
 
Cant stand her and as narrow minded as I may be, if I see someone wearing KP riding gear on them or their horse I sneer at them. I know if I had a daughter (god forbid haha) and she came home asking to buy KP clothing, id tell her to wash her mouth out!
 
That made me laugh so much! I have to admit I was disappointed when I got my H & H email today and she was one of the headlines. Please H & H stick to horse related stories not tabloid nonsense! :D:D

Some of the posts and comments here are ridiculous

I for one am not a fan of Ms Price, Cheryl Cole or any of those other "ladies". But to have someone you do not know personally affect you that much is pretty damn funny.

Some of the posts reek of jealousy, elitism and just downright bitterness. This always seems to be displayed by women too

Yes Katie Price is attention seeking and a bit of a moron but she is obviously passionate about riding as that is one thing that has been consistent in her life. Did someone comment about her not knowing much about horses? Cant remember who it was but their entire post was pretty damn idiotic

Anyway this whole post just reeks of bitchiness, the kind that strangely enough I had hoped would be kept out of the horse world we all have our little disappointments don't we

I agree, for gods sake you dont even know KP personally! Its only a brand of clothing at the end of the day. Its like being back at school where if you didn't have the right brand of trainers or whatever you weren't "cool". I wouldn't choose to wear it personally but if someone chooses to wear it then good for them, it is a free country believe it or not :)
