Katie Price update

[ QUOTE ]
For saying she has ridden since the age of 6 then I think it was abs dreadfull, sorry, but I do actually like her though, just don't think she can ride very well , at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've been riding since I was 10 and couldn't ride a dressage test as well as she did. I have also had a lot of 'gaps' when I didn't / couldn't ride due to lack of funds and when I have ridden it has been mainly hacking or lessons of varying quality at riding schools. Sure, if she'd had proper dressage lessons on top horses every week since she was 6 then yes, you would expect her to have ridden a little better but that's not the case. It's not just a case of how long you've been riding but more what kind of riding you've done.

OMG, I can't believe we're here AGAIN, discussing this AGAIN and having the same views crop up AGAIN!!!

FFS, does anyone really care anymore?!!!! (I guess so from all these posts!).

its not a push button horse tho *bangs head on wall*

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think it's about having an easy 'push button' horse, talent isn't docile, but having a capable horse is quite key - As much as I think Rambos the bees knees, a £150 shettie isn't gonig to get me to the olympics, or a prelim 4 for that matter! I can quite honestly say that if I had more money, infact money almost wasn't an object I would be a darn site more succeful rider then I am now. For me money is the limiting factor, if I had the money then maybe talent would be.

However if getting to the top was just about the horse, lorry, trainer, etc there would be a darn sight more fokes there, at the end it comes down to determination, motivation and talent.

Sorry but I cannot believe people can say someone is a 'bad rider' I mean what the hell is a 'bad rider' (apart from me!!)

(Note I am not refering to 'Kaite Price' just rich people in general

jealous? yes obviously!!! But I'm jealous of anyone who's rich and dosn't have to work their a** off all day 7 days a week like I do only to be to shattered to ride my one cob and still counting the pennies

lol.

Nah hope she does well, be great if she sticks at it

.
I don't understand the concept of buying such an expensive horse for prelim/starting out when you can do it on something much much much cheaper though.

if yr gonna go out and ride in public you should at least make sure that yr not gonna totally humliate yrself

[/ QUOTE ]
If I have deciphered the meaning of that sentence from your lack of committment to pressing the correct number of keys to form each word; why? It's her perogative to go out and "humiliate herself" if she so wishes, not that I think she did at all. Ok so from the video of the test she doesn't look like the world's most talented rider, but I don't think that's the point at all. She wants to ride and she wants to do dressage. She does not currently have any aspirations to get to the Olympics (it was media hype in case you didn't notice) and even if she did, why should she not have ambition even if it is probably ultimately out of her scope? Heck, my life ambition is to ride a grand prix test and I'm just about working at novice/elementary myself at the moment!
I feel sorry for the poor woman, having to do it all in the spotlight and having to put up with a bunch of jealous people scrutinising her every move. Give her a break, let her enjoy her horses as we enjoy ours.

She has been shown to ride several times on Katie & Peter and I've always thought that she is a good rider. Very quiet and light in the seat, she certainly gallops across field very competantly (sp?)

I think for the time she has been doing dressage she is doing just fine... Its not through lack of riding skills more like finding out about a different way to ride a horse, its a bit like putting a dressage rider on a racehorse and sending them up the gallops, they would look crap against the top jockeys, it would take time to learn the new skill! Shes earnt her money, let her enjoy it!
