I think Jordan is a LOT smarter than people give her credit for

Well you don't become worth millions by being dumb, that's for sure

Have you forgotten Jade Goody?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's not done too badly and she's hardly brain of Britain!!!

Let's face it, she's only going to get there if she's good enough, so if she makes it - excellent! It would certainly get lots of media coverage for the sport if she did - look how eventing only seems to make the dailies if they can tie Zara Phillips' name into it somehow.

But let's not forget that this is the Sun that is printing this, anyone can say that their dream would be to ride at the Olympics/Badminton/Burghley etc. etc., it doesn't mean that they are seriously planning to do so.

And yes, Katie Price is a very clever woman.

Jade is/was uneducated. This doesn't mean to say she's not bright. Presumably she was bright enough to get herself a good manager and some good fiancial help. So she ain't that dumb!

Just ever so slightly irritated that people who have the money can buy their way into the olympics and everyone else has to go through the hard slog of working all the hours god sends and running a horse alongside and never having any money... but am I bitter at all? ME? Never...

[ QUOTE ]
has anyone seen the photo in the sun doesnt it look like her face glued onto of someone elses??

Good luck to her I hope she gets there GO KATIE!!!

Thats because it is...

Ginger - I think she's having reductions at some point, so she won't look rediculous. That, and I know far too many horsewomen with crazy fake boobs already. Boob jobs are this years diamante browbands
wink.gif

I believe that she has had them reduced now.
I must admit, the fact that it is reported in the sun, makes me doubt that she said anything like that.
If she did, then fair play to her. It is a money sport and she has the money, if her horse is good enough and so is she then why not.
I have seen a couple of clips with her riding and she looks very natural.

You and me both

No of course not! You just have to get your huge fake boobs out for the cameras all the time, behave like a party animal, get yourself on reality tv and then marry a vacuous, has-been pop star and have some crappy show on cable tv.

Piece of cake, really.

I understand what you're getting at, but at least you have a lovely horse
smile.gif
that's more than a lot of people!
Good luck to her with her dressage, I really hope she does well

How rude..
There are also some self righteous idiots about, who are unable to accept that others may have an opinion that differs to their own.. and that theyre entitled to it. It IS unfair that those with money can buy their way to the top of what is supposed to be a SPORT. Or is it a sport anymore? Maybe I'm behind the times.

Oh surely you don't believe that you can get all the way to the olympics without putting the work in?

I'm definitely jealous! Although I'm delighted the way PF has turned out

Most 'Sports' these days require serious money to back them up....sailing, motor racing, shooting, football....you name it. Don't kid yourself. Even the 'pure' sports such as athletics require a huge amount of financial backing for the athletes to allow them to pursue their disciplines without the need to go out to work like 'ordinary' people.

That said, money doesn't buy talent....you still have to be able to produce the goods and have the mindset and determination to succeed.

I agree that money talks when it comes to buying the right horse and having a decent trainer, but that applies to everyone involved in equestrianism, not just KP.

Then when you reach the age of consent (in 5 or 6 years time ?) get a boob job, get your kit off and EARN yourself lots of cash whilst also bringing up children and improving your riding skills and then maybe you'll have matured enough to also have the drive and talent to reach for the top too
smirk.gif

I do hope you are able to accept MY differing opinion

grin.gif

I bet half the dressage riders (and their families) and many in showing, eventing etc etc probably have pots more money than Katie Price. I'm sorry but yes of course money can buy you horses, posh wagons etc but it can't buy you ability and it CAN'T I am positive buy you a place in the Olympics!

If she has the ability to get there and has the training then fair play to her, she'll still have to work her a*se off and would still have to qualify won't she.

I think people believe these 'celeb's have a lot more money than they actually do. There's tonnes more wealthy business men/women we have never heard of with millions who pay ridiculous amounts of money on horses for their little 'darlings' to reach the top on!!

Haha. Opinion accepted, but I didn't post originally to get called immature. It was meant to be sarcasm. I'm simply saying that for hundreds of riders out there who have the talent but not the opportunities to go to the olympics this will feel like a bit of a bitter blow. I more than have the drive and talent (IMO lol) to reach for the top, it just angers me when people buy their way into the sport... and of course not everyone does it this way, look at Tim Stockdale - in fact most professional riders have had to work their way up. Even Zara Phillips. Im sure she has had to also, but it's not quite the same - i'm just trying to justify my original post and am not quite following how this became a bit - personal :S

Secondly - it was only meant to be a joke :S Seems like there's a whole etiquette to posting i'm currently unaware of, so feel free to divulge!

But do you really think that Zara or Tim, or any other top riders would be where they are if they had been brought up in a two up-two down terraced house, with factory workers as parents?

Yes, sometimes there are the fairytale stories, but 99% of the time, without horsey family connections and plenty of dosh, even the most talented rider has little chance of getting to the top, because they simply cannot afford to buy the quality horse, or have the connections to get a ride on one.

Yes, you cannot be successful in equestrianism without talent and hard work, but you have little to no chance at all of success without money and backing.

Agree with Dubble yep the likes of Zara, William-Fox-Pitt and the like, undoubted they have talent but I don't believe that the financial backing they have from their families hasn't paid a large part in getting them where there are. Not sure about the reference to Tim Stockdale as I wasn't aware he was from a particularly wealthy or horsey background?!

It seems necessary in Eventing and Dressage that money is the key to getting to the top as in reality there is not a heck of a lot of money to be won and it's more about prestige than anything else. I have the tendency to feel that the majority of showjumpers don't generally come from the wealthier families within the equestrian world.

If we didn't know Katie Price at all and she wasn't on TV and she had the money and skill to get to the top noone would be bothered would they. If she achieves it good on her!

Haha I was going to say!
Tbh this all stemmed from a joke about my abilities to get to the olympics ^^^ (am i bitter at all... me? never) lol and I actually dont ahve a rpoblem... if shes got the talent then good for her.

It'll have only been an off hand comment she made anyway off the back of Peter buying her a horse. Oh, I forgot though I recall a programme a couple of years back about Katie and I remember her mum saying how she used to cycle to the yard evary evening after school as a kid and it was just horses horses, horses so I feel she's pretty much the same as most of us were as kids. I don't know if she had a pony just think she wanted to be there and ride what she could.

She's been lucky, she's fallen on her feet, it could have gone the other way and she could have carried on as the old 'Jordan' on a destructive path. However, she also now has to work very hard to look after her kids too. Respect to her i say.
