Katie Price

I dont think she will be very welcome in the eventing world there is to much that can go wrong to be playing at it.I personally hope BE do not allow this to become a circus.
At least she can save £400 pound as she already has her own inflatables

Any snooping journalists are probably busy jotting down quotes from this thread

OMG i give up .. . Life is not all about making money , buying flash horses, flashing your boobs and treating people like sh*t and acting like a smart arse. I think her morals are totally wrong and she is a very bad advertisment for the horse world

[/ QUOTE ]

oh for god's sake get off your high horse! i know we should all be spending all our time working for nothing and giving all our money to charity and being nice to everybody but HELLO welcome to the real world! why are her morals so bad exactly?! what has she done thats wrong?
mad.gif

Money, money, money, money. Publicity, publicity, publicity, publicity etc, etc, etc, etc.
Not a lot to do with horses I think.

i do agree she's about money and publicity but she looks after her horses well (or pays someone to do it)- they have the life of blimmin riley so what is so wrong with that?!
i think a lot of people on here are maybe a little bit jealous

Digger - I agree!

what annoys me is people who pass judgement on people they dont even know!
How can you say someones morals are all wrong? (know doubt based on a reality tv show)

Shes a really savvy business woman who happens to like horses. Far to much snobbery around. If she hadnt been a glamour model and from the "wrong" class, noone would care.

And there is a difference between being posh and being a snob.
Snobs are quite ugly characters!

Leave the poor girl alone and be careful what you throw in your glasshouse!

She is hardly the only wealthy person in the world to be spending buckets of money on horses and all the goodies that go with them. Some of the money spent on junior riders and by wealthy amateurs would make people's heads spin if they knew, it's just that they don't. And a fairly large percentage of those lucky people go on to do well competitively and, once established, become the sort of people other riders admire.

Let's face it, the horse world in the UK and North America (less so on the Continent but still to a large extent) runs on a hobby basis, which means it's supported by a lot of people pouring their disposable income into it. That's how many pros can afford drool-worthy yards, world calibre mounts, and the people to look after it all. It's called trickle down economics.

I understand why people get ratty about Katie/Jordan but honestly, if the problem is people buying horses they can afford but can't ride to "capacity" then the list of offenders is going to be very, very long indeed!

I seem to remember seeing a front cover of Horse Mag with her saying why she was selling Glamour Girl. Anyone read the interview - is she? Why?

[/ QUOTE ]
Have the mag somewhere, but not sure where, lol.
It was something along the lines of "I want something I can really progress on".
Peronaly,I think she should learn to get one good horse going really well before moving onto something "better",but she does have a very good trainer to keep her horses ticking over so any she buys wil be looked after extremly well.
Last word always goes to the horse and they can sure as hell get a rider off if they dont want to work for htem
tongue.gif
and I would think 5* luxury would be a fair trade off for someone not superstar level on your back a few times a week
tongue.gif

I'm definalty not a fan(and only found this thread by clicking on last post thing from main list, needed to visit CR to clear the red numbers) but however she got it it IS her money and she can do as she wants with it.
Very much doubt any of her horses will suffer from being hers.....unless you can make a horse deef by shouting to the papapazi "I'm over here" all the time you are with it
tongue.gif

The side of herself she shows the world is very spoilt(it must be years since someone last said no to her
crazy.gif
) and I think she is stupid and or crazy to try and fly up the levels,it takes time to become a good rider and before someone shouts she has been riding since a child, riding for fun is a whole other world to riding to win at a sport-but she certanly isnt the only one to think they are ready for GP before they get out of novice....

I'm not a Katie Price fan in particular but I seem to remember she had horses long before Glamour Girl, that she rode long before it came into the public eye and I defy anyone on here who has her money not to buy fab horses. Its her money and as for her morals there are several in the horse world who we hold up as top riders who aren't as squeaky clean as they'd like their adoring public to think. There have been scandals in the horse world long before her and will be long after.

Lmao.

The horse world was trashy and smutty long before KP came along.

Good on her. If she's serious about jumping - then a school master is just the trick.

Too many green eyed monsters around for poor old Katie to be able to do anything though, that's not considered attention grabbing, or the act of a spoilt rich bitch.

Any of us would do exactly the same with her money. I know I would.

I think you will find that there are many people in the horse world who are equally lacking in morals - they are just not tabloid targets...
I can't stand KP but if she wants to spend her money on posh horses then why shouldn't she?

At the end of the day, it boils down to money. Okay you might not like her or how she earned her money but she is putting money into the horse world which can't be bad.. Dont imagine that AG is worried about where she made her money when he is banking her training/livery fees, he is proably thinking that what she pays helps him covers his cost, keep his horses and pay his staff. The competitons she enters, the venues wont worried the money is tainted, they be glad they can put the money towards help them running competitions (not saying that other people's entry money is not contribution just using as an example.) When she buys a horse, does the seller think can't possible sell to her, she used to get her T**ts out, no maybe the fact that she has bought one horse from them allows them to keep and compete another.
Anyone who has horses, competes in their favorite disciple etc pays for the priviliage, this money keeps the horse world afloat. KP is no different. So she is in the public eye, only because the public keep her there.

As for her morals, as far as I am aware she doesn't do drugs, other than alcohol, (shocking in the teatotal horse world
shocked.gif
!) she makes sure her childern are well cared for, she doesn't embezzle, mug old ladies or mistreat animals. And again although I haven't any proof there has never been any thing in the press about her messing around with married men, and if she had you think someone would have sold a story by now.

As for being a bad advertisment for the horse world there are far worse that her, just look in the latest new section if you want proof of that.

Sorry will clime off soap box now. Maybe we should just let her do her thing and continue to do ours, she isn't causing me any problems, I will hopefully continue to have my horse and do dressage regardless of what KP does.

All you prudes out there, get a life. Just enjoy Katie Price, she is fun. As for morals and destroying peoples lives, it's the press that does that, not Katie. She is a breath of fresh air, good on yer Katie.

well if i won the lottery tonight *fingers crossed* i would be straight out to buy a nice house with stables gallops arena xc course the list goes on, but i think i couldnt justify spending alot on a horse i already have a perfectly good one who i cant do justice, id much rather buy a good one for a top rider to compete etc.

This girl baffles me. She bought "Glamour Girl" who was meant to be an amazing horse who'd take her all the way to the Olympics and Ive just now read in Horse magazine that she's selling the horse as she needs a horse "to take her further" - what?! I thought Glamour Girl was at Grand Prix level?

I really hope she isnt trying to get into jumping now as well. Buying a seriously good eventer when she is so inexperienced IMO is a disaster waiting to happen!

Personally, even if I had masses of money, I wouldnt go out and buy a "top" horse because Id only ruin it! I actually prefer buying real cheapo jobs as they can only get better and its far more rewarding
wink.gif

Is this post not better suited to New Lounge or Latest News?

i wonder what the negative press would be like for the sport if she was to fall off eventing an injure herself- however minor it would be totally hyped up by the media ??????

If you need talent in order to get to the top - then Jordan wont, by most peoples reckonning, so just stop your jealous ovetones and let the woman be. She's got a lot of money and can afford the best - who can blame her for that - she's hardly going to go out and buy some knackered old mongrel if she's got the amount of ambition she seems to have- and who would?

The money is hers, it is not government money, charity money or stolen money, she has worked hard for every note and regardless of if you agree with her flaunting her assets and personality.

The British can be so jealous at times; I see her as a resourceful woman who has made the most of what she has and now look what she's got!

I think a lot of people should be ashamed of "their" morals as envy is not a nice trait!

would still be stuck with hideous, uncomfortable, huge, boring white bras that our grannies would have been ashamed of!! Now can go to Asda and get pretty, lacy, colourful ones that fit!!!

i just dont understand why she can buy top levels horses from people when she isnt going to be able to maintain the same level of riding that the horse may need. and also why buy horses that your hardly ever going to get to ride, she wont bond with them properly or have any real relationship with the horses, it will be the grooms that do all the hard work with them and she just reaps the rewards at compertions. i have to say i thought she would be good for the sport at first but now i think its unfair that she thinks she can buy her way to top level compertion. Just an opinion people

whilst i agree that its "unfair that she thinks she can buy her way up to top level competition" she's not the only person in the world guilty of doing this...there were a few of these on my old yard- 25k for a horse to do unaffiliated prelim on is hardly the action of a normal person....katie just gets all the bad press...
