Good scores there well done you - who was judging the elementary out of interest, sometimes the judge can be quite hard in the elementary trailblazers at NH. Mind you when you get a good mark you know you have done well.
I had a hacking weekend this weekend but am out at Towerlands on 4th Mar and at Bluegate on 10th so a busy 2 weeks coming up. When are you next out?
I am in class 3 and 4 both Novices at Bluegate so we shall definitely see you there
, Towerlands is fine but the standard was very high last time I was there. Lovely arenas though.
And edited to say if I can take my fluffy Connie there you will certainly be fine!
Hey, well the little man is not feeling so well right now
He had his back done on wednesday and the back lady said he's be ok to compete on Sat but he deff wasn't himself
Rachel took him in the Novice and when she was warming up he did the MOST almighty buck and took off with her (very very unlike him) and he did a nice test but was obviously stiff, she came 4th with about 64% out of a big class but he wasn't on form. They were really nice his general way of going etc but picked up that he was stiff
I took him in for the elementary hoping he may have been a bit looser and he still felt stiff to warm up (although he tried his little socks off), took him in for the test and found the tight turns a little tough with his stiffness but again tried his so hard (bless him) came 4th again but it was jus bellow 60% so well under his normal scores but like a say, just not on form. Judges again we very complementary about him but picked up on his stiffness.
In hindsight I wish we hadn't of gone as he was obviously very stiff still. He's had a day off and a lunge today in the passoa and i'm going to do some jumping tomorrow to try and loosten him up and then asses on Wed whether he's feeling looser for Towerlands on Sat
Oh no poor man, what was wrong with his back? Obviously feeling a bit sore still. Patrick had his done about 3 weeks ago but I'm not sure he is completely right still. Fingers crossed your boy is feeling better soon and hopefully he'll be ok for Sat. I am there Sunday so will hopefully bump into you again soon.
Edited cos I can't read!
Well it started with some unevenness in his medium trot and escalated to difficulties in lateral work. Back lady had said his pelvis was slightly rotated and his back was stiff (at the highest point on his bum). She said that it's probably because his work has got harder in the last few months with a lot more lateral work and collection etc and he's just feeling it a bit. She said to make sure I jump him once a week or do pole work to keep him supple over his back and pelvis and a few more massage sessions will keep him supple.
She said to keep working him as normal though as stopping or lessening his work will just make the stiffness worse.
I think he probably just needs a couple more sessions with her before he feels 100% again.
Patrick had managed to put both sacros 'out' and had pulled both gluteal muscles but I'm not entirely convinced he is right still, although he is much better. Which back person do you use? PM if you'd prefer. I'm going on Sun if I can manage to get any schooling in in our paddling pool/school before then.
I use Marie Craig, she's very good, does a lot of horses up at our yard.
Poor Patrick, I hope he feels better soon too. It's always such a worry when things don't feel right. I so wish Louis could speak sometimes just to tell me where it hurts!
Our arena is pretty soggy too so I hope it dries out a but this week! x
I've not heard of her but if you find a good back person it's great. I've been using the same person for years and I'm dreading it when she retires. I quite agree though it would be so much easier if the horses could tell you what was wrong. Good luck on Sat!
