Sorry...posted now as thought somebody may have posted over weekend!!

I love Kauto Star and really don't think we saw the best of him last season. In fact I backed his stablemate Denman to win the Gold Cup in March as I felt he had more improvement in him. This season it appears to be the other way around as I feel Denman may not be the horse he was after his heart murmur scare. While I have every confidence in the Ditcheat team to get him back on track I do feel he may lack the match fitness come March compared to Kauto. With that in mind I feel that Kauto has a better chance of recapturing his Prestbury crown next year.
Another to watch out for though is Exotic Dancer who shaped with more promise on his seasonal reappearance at Aintree a few weeks ago. I felt that two years ago ( when Kauto won gold cup) that the O'Neill runner had been given a hard season and for some reason I just don't believe he was firing on all cylinders during the last national hunt campaign.
Gold Cup aspirations aside, it was a pure joy to watch Kauto at Down Royal and he seemed to jump his fences with more fluency than in the past. The addition of a sheepskin noseband is thought to have contributed to his improved concentration when jumping the larger obstacles and if this holds he will be a major force to be reckoned with on the lead up to the Cheltenham festival.
This year's King George looks a race to savour on paper at this early stage and if Kauto did indeed beat some of his well regarded counterparts on the day then I can see him shortening tremendously for the blue riband event.
I wish Kauto all the best this season and hope that his run up to March is trouble free
