Just wondering if anyone has used them and if so what are they like?

I am currently with NFU but my policy is due for renewal next month and from other experiences on here I am expecting a pretty major hike.

So i've been doing a bit of shopping around and the quote from KBIS seems pretty reasonable for what I want.

Fantastic for me! Been with them for nearly 15 years but this is the first time I've claimed for vet fees although they've settled two death claims without any trouble either. Two days from them getting the invoice it was paid; can't say fairer than that and they're always so nice and helpful on the phone; think it also helps that they all have horses. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

They've been great for me too. Been with them for years. Had a claim with them a few years back and they settled really quickly. I'd definately recommend them :)

Another positive vote for KBIS. I've had several claims since last September and they've paid out within days and I've never had a problem. Even had my renewal quote through and even though I'd claimed a lot, the premium was still very good value.

I've been with them for about 15 years too. Have always been brilliant at paying out for vets fees with no issues and are very helpful and friendly on the phone :)

Excellent value and really good service. Friendly helpful people on the phone. They pay up quickly and there is no "faffing" around with them. Recommended.

I've just got a quote on line off them and I must say I was really suprized very reasonable indeed, excess is a bit higher than other companies but that doesn't matter I'm going to give them a go.

They wanted me to have a 5 stage vetting when I inquired last year... my horse has hock spavins which are now an insurance exclusion so they requested a 5 stage vetting before they would even consider insuring him. Considering he is probably only worth about £1000 now if I'm lucky, it wasn't worth it so I insured with Amtrust Equine instead, who didn't request a vetting...

Have insured with AE in the past and they've always been great :)

Absolutely brilliant. They pay my vets bills faster than I do! They generally pay next day after receiving invoices and have never quibbled any of mine. I wouldn't use anyone else.

I swopped to KBIS at the beginning of March as my renewal quote from NFU was quite ridiculous. KBIS premiums were much on a par with what I had been paying previously and I like their "class" options. One of mine is only used for very occasional hacking (I'm very lazy!) and KBIS do a "leisure horse" policy which was perfect for her.

This is all sounding great! I just emailed them with a few queries and they phoned me back in less than 10 mins with the answers - so helpful :) I don't need to have a vetting done either which is great.

I too am with NFU and i'm bracing myself for the horrendous hike when mine comes in next month :(

I've been with KBIS for about 10 years - they're not the cheapest usually, but have always provided excellent service and paid all claims promptly and without fuss. Highly recommend.

Brilliant thank you. I will try and get my NFU quote down when it comes, but if no joy I will be definately moving over to KBIS.

I wouldn't bother trying to negotiate with NFU. My renewal was due on 28th April and my premium had DOUBLED! The operator told me that they were not allowed to do deals on horse insurance and that was that so I have just taken out a policy with KBIS! They gace me an affordable quote for what I want + I have been able to have public liability ins as well as I am no longer a member of the BHS.

When my daughters horse insurance is up for renewal ( currently with NFU ) I with go with KBIS no hesitation.

I just made this move myself as NFU wanted to increase my premium by a whopping 52% when nothing had changed on my policy and no claims made. They wouldn't discuss it much and wouldn't offer a discount. I went with KBIS, £100 less on what NFU wanted to charge me.

I'm for KBIS too. NFU alway gave me ridiculous quotes so went with KBIS last year. Just had my renewal and its gone down! No changes and vet fees for colic cover value increased to £7500 at no extra cost!

Hmm, looks like NFU are trying to lim down their equine book here! Not surprised, they have been quoting ridiculously low prices for too long and they will no doubt be trying to get some money back after offering their "centenary discounts" last year. Mind you are don't think it's just horse insurance they're hiking up the priced of, it's farms as well - big losses you see because of two awful winters!

KBIS are a perfectly respectable company. I think they merged with British Equestrian (BEIB) a couple of years back.
