Please some one slap me now! I didnt know or read! in my policy that KBIS do not cover hospitalisation or transport fees

*cries in soup*

I posted about lameness of my gelding Hector a few days a go it wasnt going down and hes still literally hopping lame

Today a couple of funny lumps have come up on his canon and near his splint, vet possibly thinks fractured splint so if hes not got better by Friday hes got to go in for X rays

Please can I ask everyone for vibes thats its just swollen and bruised and will go down, then make sure I change insurers and to never think again that 'ahhh that wont happen'

Thanks

Big vibes and virtual slap! Its so easily done and I'm off to check my policy next, may join you in the soup bowl! Good luck, hope he improves naturally, xxx

I know petplan dont cover transport fees and I think they cover 1/2 of stabling fees might be wrong though.

Think on the bright side they could be refusing to pay for any treatment ;P

haha true, Im hoping it will sort itself, thanks

When I was with petplan and on my ponies poilcy stabling is covered, unless thats changed as shes been with them for nearl 15 years

I dont fee lso bad if no one covers it lol

Dont worry sweet things will work out.....Huge hugs just look after your horsey

So sorry to hear that its already bad enough that you are having lameness issues you dont need expensive bills on top. Poor you

As far as I know NFU pay out stabling and they def pay transport, as long as its all within the total claim limit

NFU paid half stabling and transport costs.

our mare was at equine hospital on intensive care for 15 days and we only paid £300 so its not too bad.

thanks all

I didnt go with NFU because the bloke who did my quote kept pestering me to the point I got annoyed and didnt pick the policy! will think more carefully next time

Isnt it weird though I knew something wasnt right the day the first vet came, just knew it, but thought I was over reacting about nothing, trust your instincts I say

Aww sending to you big hugs & lost of *Vibes*

Your not the only one who hadn't read the T & C's of your policy, im gulity

, slap me too lol.

Only checked it a few weeks ago after my mare had a bad case of colic. Thankfully she recovered with out any surgical intervention.

Was chatting to my vet the other day about the fact I had been able to claim transport fees from NFU when I had to go to Kent for an MRI and he was very surprised.
Got the impression from him that is is quite rare for them to do so.
Claimed half my livery costs too when he was hospitalised.

i had the very same problem and didn't read small print and as a result did not take out cover for hospitalisation and my boy was in for 20 days at £32 a day so now i need to pay just under £1000 between excess and hospital fees

I done this too... was with Petplan and my mare had to be stabled at horsepital for 2 weeks which wasnt covered, neither were transport fees.

((((vibes))))) from me!! can they not bring out the x-ray machine? When Kelly fractured hers they brought the x-ray and scanner to my yard as she has made the decision she will never ever load again lol!! It took the roughly an hour to scan and x-ray and the bill wasnt too bad at all!!

I think there is only NFU left who cover half of the costs, HOWEVER they only pay for half of an MRI scan too. I queried this with them when I took out ins for Micah so I went with South Essex they don't cover stabling either but do pay 100% MRI scan

Keltic she said the one she could bring out wasnt very good although I think I might push the issue now as I remember having my mare x rayed at home when she had suspected pedal bone rotation, same vet

it was the usual "is he insured ok if its not better hes coming in" so I might mention they arent covering certain things and get them to come out.

You'll find that the majority of insurers don't cover transport and stabling. But you can ask the horsepital to itemise your bill so that it clearly shows the stabling costs as either livery or nursing costs. Most will cover the nursing costs.

am trust cover all hospitalisation fees, petplan cover half and i don't know about transport fees as i have never tried to claim for them on either policy
