KC Assured Breeders Assessment

But the assessor did find fault with your current situation by deeming that you had not given sufficient consideration to what would happen to your breeding stock when that stock retired? It was just one part of an overall assessment which was obviously otherwise judged to be very satisfactory hence the awarding of AB status. I agree it would have been nice if they had revised their assessment, but this is the Kennel Club we are talking about :p

I wonder what the KC response would be, if a breeder replied that when a brood bitch, or stud dog for that matter, reached the end of their profitable days, then they would be put to sleep.

I'd add, hurriedly!, that I'm not suggesting such a course, I'm genuinely wondering where the KC would sit, on the point.

Alec.

I suspect Alec that they would be quite happy with that.
PN - that is what is so typically KC confusing, the letter quite clearly states that the assessor "found no fault with your current situation", it just seemed to be the fact that I had not made plans that they didn't like. They obviously thought I had just forgotten to get rid of her. And don't forget they had actually awarded AB status 12 months earlier, without an assessment.:)

You realise the KC will be entirely responsible for the sudden influx of people growing horns?(from all the desking they have enforced)

I'm sorry they have treated you like this MM..I have a real urge to mention this on their page and see what they make of it... unfortunately I know the Accredited breeder in question will be a personal problem to me if it appears in my name & would probably be unfair of me to do so publicly as would be easy to know who from area with my surname etc. She breeds and is a dog trainer.

I went to see her dogs before I rescued my dog.went purely to see when pups were not imminent so i could stake out, think, meet both parents & not feel pressured.

All her dogs were in a right state and cleary hadn't been walked or claws clipped as their nails were shockingly long. SHe knew i was coming but there was poo everywhere-in & out of runs & no hint of it being picked up daily. the dogs weren't groomed and were dirty-fair enough maybe I called at the wrong time of day, but with their coats (length/density) and size plus living out they should have looked cleaner & not felt matty- she shows. They were grey with dirt & dust. She made some off comments knowing I had sheep & suggesting I was planning to keep my pup outside which she would not condone for its welfare-all hers were not allowed in the house -I wanted a flock guardian type because of their affinity with sheep, but that would be primarily a house dog/companion & friend..working with my sheep when needed but not mega energy type like a bc.

I saw /was told of numbers totalling between 12-17. I'm not allergic to dogs but left feeling very asthmatic from outside kept dogs. She has called me three times after, trying to get me to take on three of her dogs, then a sob story about another who was her pup(turns out she bought it not bred as claimed) asked if I would rehome no fee, then hit me with the 800 no fee pricetag & screamed at me for losing her 300 miles of fuel collecting it before I'd even hinted an answer other than would prefer to meet it first as adult & i wanted a younger dog/pup-she doesn't know she slipped up on fb that she may have found a mug to buy it and it had attacked one of current owners livestock & other dogs. I backed away FAST.

Two months later i had 4 frantic texts from her, this super experienced breeder struggling with a birth could I help, she didn't know what to do.She lost a few pups. the latter two texts were a week later, the pups had diarrhea, she'd lost two, and was also looking after another litter her friend had left her with and she didn't know how often she should be bottle feeding. I was appalled. She was working closely with a vet-why not call them?I'm not a vet!I had only met her once & spoken twice!

I wasn't aware that the KC gave accreditation to someone who it really seemed puppy farms. This has made me so, so cross as you have both got accreditation, yet she is on another planet & merrily rehomes (the lucky ones) she has taken on-for a fee, unlike MM who gives homes for life. Yes I can understand that this is what they are trying to avoid with dog hoarding..but HOW has she slipped thru the net?

I wrote to the KC to inform them, I have still not received a response.

I blocked her number as i was too upset & wanted nothing to do with her. I believe she was genuinely accredited as was all over champ dogs as accredited, and a lady of a similar name/address was on KC accredited breeders list which is how i first made contact.

The KC seriously need to buck their ideas up..if they test one, they should test all.this lady is not the first time I've heard of strange circumstances. Perhaps I got her on a bad month?maybe. Who am I to judge as I'm not a breeder or trainer or a vet.. I do know i am more experienced than first time buyers who wouldn't maybe know better & I know I am upset for the dogs & for you that they are so imballanced in their standards of box ticking.(and incapable of short posts..sorry!but this has made me mad!) You know you are worth highest accreditation & your dogs are loved & cared for for life, the KC could learn a LOT.
