"Keep Calm and Carrying on Riding"

Well it's grammatically horrible... Generally it's worded as "Keep calm and carry on riding/insert activity of choice" ;)

And no, I don't think it's rubbish, it's rather over used at the moment though.

Getting a bit sick of the "Keep Calm and....." slogan, very overused at the moment, and far too many of the slogans are just a bit rubbish....

This one, is either a typo or VERY rubbish.

And its not even available in hi-viz ;):D

I quite like it! But there again I don't get out much so haven't seen too much of it, and I like anything suggests that I should be riding :D

im glad this thread came up...:o

can someone please explain to me WHAT this slogan is all about and where it came from? It's everywhere! On everything!! And I just don't get it:confused:

It's a poster that was produced during WW2 to be used in case Germany invaded and took over London. Germany never managed to so the poster was never used, but was then found among a load of rubble, or in a book in an office many years later.
(Cant remember exactly, it's been a while)

This keep calm thing is getting on my nerves atm, I know its iconic from the war but to keep having differing versions of the thing at work/ appear on fb it gets a bit tedious atm dye to the over use.

Anyone know why its suddenly become so over used?

Also forgot to add: the grammar is terrible, should be carry on not carrying.

Any one know why its being so annoyingly over used atm?

I know, I was at work "not doing what I was meant to be doing" and my boss walked in so had to get rid off forum page quickly!! :D:D:D;)

If someone could tell me how to change it I will

lol i prefer the version i have on my phone cover which is 'Now Panic and Freak Out' which is much more appropriate for me:D:D

That one has been the slogan used by my friends for me over the exam period :p

I know its been really over used recentally, but I'm still a bit of a fan.
I wonder is I can get the "now panic and freak out" one embroidered on a saddlecloth..... ;)

I think it's a ruddy good British slogan!

Keep calm - yep, I do need to keep calm most days, a reminder is a ruddy good thing.

And carry on - exactly! Get on with it and stop yer ruddy whining.

The fact is is plastered on almost everything and reworded to fit most scenarios is ruddy amusing in my eyes!

Of course, not everyone agrees, so.... Keep calm and lets just ruddy carry on shall we? :D

Because it's been trademarked and someone is making a LOT of money out of it. It is likely that the trademark will become invalid soon so all possible merchandising opportunities are being taken.

And can it really be classed as iconic from the war when it was never publicly displayed at that time? Very few people would have been aware of its existence until it was 'rediscovered' in 2000.
