Because another poochlet is really tempting and I CAN'T - I can't afford the extra food, my landlord would probably say no anyway, it would make it really hard to find another rented place if I had to move, and my car is too small and I've only had Henry 6 months, and I can only take one dog to work with me......

And there are some really nice looking dogs on there and I want to bring them all home and turn into crazy dog lady in peace

I admit that I do prefer to have more than one dog at the same time and that I don't think it makes much difference in owning one dog or owning more than one dog, however my situation is not the same as yours.

If I have a car, I would not consider having more dogs or dogs of such sizes than that they would fit in that car all at once.

Since you say you can only take one with you to work, how do you intend to solve it? I can't quite imagine myself being able to take one dog with me to work and leave the other one at home on a regular basis.

I own a third of the house I live in, if things got really bad economically and the house was sold, I have the option of moving to our summer home on a permanent basis. We have electricity but no running water indoors, it wouldn't be easy during the winter but I at least wouldn't need to worry about landlords allowing so or so many pets.

Although the thing that worries me the most of the things you mention, is that you actually say that you can't afford to feed one more dog! I'm sorry to put it blunt but a good home to me, does certainly include believing that you will be able to feed the dog!




All dogs deserve a good home and I do understand the temptation, I f.ex. saw a lovely, smallish, 11 year old "lady" on the most well known Swedish dog rescue's internet site the other day, that really tugged on my heart. But remember that there is other ways to help than to actually bringing one home with you. If you have any money left over one month you can donate them or maybe you can buy dog toys and send them. Or if you have a rescue not to far away, maybe you could volunteer, donate some of your time to be there and help.
And then you wouldn't only be helping one dog, you would be helping several.



Again, I do understand the temptation but as you say, you want to take them all home, so even if you decided to take one, you would still be leaving all the others behind. I'm sadly quite sure that if you wait a while, until you're sure that you can afford feeding one more dog, until you have a car with room for more than Henry, there will be dogs available for you to rescue then as well.

Hence the reason I need to stay away from the website. I have no intention of taking the responsibility for an animal I can't take care of - we take in enough of those at work.

However I am quite sensible enough to realise that I can't!

If you're only wishing but have no intention of going further, I would say that if only more people was as sensible you (as in realising their current limits before getting a dog/another dog), there probably would be much less dogs in the rescues.

Aaah, I know how you feel! I've been helping out at a rescue centre for the last few weekends and I ALWAYS want to take all the doggies home with me! There's no way I can, since I still live with mum and dad and they are firmly against having any more dogs, but when I have my own house I will probably turn into a crazy dog lady.
