I have decided to take Grace down to the vets tomorrow morning and have the new farrier reshoe her... at least this way I will know more once her foot is back level, and we can start working towards the lameness work up on Monday and have something to focus on.

I still feel very depressed about the prognosis, but will try to stay positive until the vet finds out what is causing the lameness. She will be staying at the vets Monday through to Tuesday, so by Tuesday afternoon I should have a good idea as to what is causing her lameness.

Thank you

Don't forget to let me know when you hear about Jery too... you just keep one big toe crossed over the next for me and Grace, and everything else crossed for Jerry!

You could just be a very skanky person and when I met you, I took pity on you because you had holes in your socks. Oh no, that was me!!!

Good luck Becki! Will be thinking of you and Grace.

Remember, even if she does have an injury, it isn't the end of the world. I've currently got a horse who is recovering from a fracture and it is a long haul, but you do get there in the end. You train with Spencer Wilton, don't you? Then remember how Dolendo was on box rest for months (something in the foot as well, I think!), and came back better than ever. Horses do heal, if you give them the time and care to do so.

However, from what you have been saying, I'm sure Grace will turn out to be fine!

I'll just tell you that my WB mare went lame 2/3 years ago. Vet mentioned her feet looked a bit long but I said they were only done 2 weeks ago. So took her to vets for nerve blocks, etc, but found that it was that her feet were too long along with the shoes being too narrow. Vet's farrier shod her and IMMEDIATELY she came 100% sound! So she may be the same, fingers crossed.

Thanks madmare... yes, I do train with Spencer and what happened with Dolendo is my one little glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel at this moment in time. If it is an injury that requires box rest I will do everything in my power to keep her happy and so far she does not seem to mind so much and it has been 5 days in total already. She comes out to have her leg hosed (vet said it couldn't do any harm) for 10 mins and then goes back into her stable. Tonight she didn't really want to go back on, but was coaxed in without too much fuss.

Gah! I thought I had replied to this, but apparently poxy proxy saw to it that I didn't.

Best of luck for tomorrow Becki.
