One of mine has obviously been taught to lunge, she is very good and lunges almost perfectly. (she has her days ;) )
However, my other mare constantly comes in. If you move toward her not only do you have to watch out for her flying back end but she bucks and kicks etc if you use the whip (pointed at her) to send her out. Any ideas for keeping her out on the circle? Have debated using 2 lines so I have an outside line to use but not sure how much that will help.

You have to teach them to walk on a long line first. The easiest way to teach is to go step by step so the horse understands.

Walk beside them on a large circle as you would leading and encourage to walk forward.

Then allow more room between you and keep on a circle, encouraging the horse forward with a shorter whip.

Gradually increase the space between you, again using the same commands to encourage the horse to walk forward.

Eventually you will be in the middle. Sometimes you have to walk a smaller circle than the horse at first to encourage her to keep going.

Repeat the other side.

Ensure you are behind a line around where the girth would go and then apply pressure to the hindquarters. Forget the front end - you have that on the line anyway, but keep the back end going forward. I have taught numerous horses to lunge without a helper, second line etc etc by doing it like that, starting with a shortish line and building.
