Three weeks ago (11/09/08) I picked up a puppy (she's now 20 weeks) and she is happily getting on with my 15 month old boy. They are both Staffies and rather boisterous.

Since we got her I've been leaving her crated in the 'dog proof room' with my older boy when I'm out of the house - she was already crate trained and is happy to go in her crate.

I was worried that he might hurt her unintentionally but they seem to be getting on so well. He is a big lad and weighs 28kg, she is a little girl and weighs 15kg.

They play together all the time, and also sleep in the same basket when I'm around. Would you just bite the bullet and leave them alone together for a couple of hours?

This is them together...do you think he'll squash her or eat her?

I think if they are genuinely good friends while you are around, then I would give it a go, but I would try to do it after they have both had some exercise, and I would make sure I didnt leave any food or special toys around that they might be tempted to fight over. Start with short sessions if you can and build up the time they are left.

Good luck.
