I rode out early Sunday morning and my ears got freezing cold. They actually hurt for a few hours after I had finished. What do you all do to help? I've seen the pad type ear warmers that attach to your hat and there is also a snood type thing that goes under your hat and comes down to cover your neck as well. Any recommendations please?

I used to use the ear warmers that attach to your riding hat but now I have an adjustable hat, I just use a thin merino wool headband

Last year I made myself a thin fleece tube / snood that I pull up to the top of my head and then put the riding hat on on top of it.....imagine a sort of fleece hijab and that's the idea! Works very well. You just need to make sure you make it wide enough, because (obviously) your whole face needs to fit out of the top end

I don't ride The Arrogant Arabian any more, due to M E ruining my balance and him having a warped sense of humour and a capacity to do huge spooks over shadows, blades of grass. And yes, his general health, eyesight and brain are all fine as he is checked and handled daily by his breeder and/or the Head Groom.
I have a selection of snoods and find them excellent for keeping ears and neck warm underneath a riding hat or watch cap.

Check out some running brands ear warmers. They’re often a pretty neat fit. I’ve got a nice thin one that would fit under my riding hat.

This one looks pretty good and Rab stuff is usually pretty good quality

I use a merino wool ‘buff’ - half over head so it covers both ears and neck

I use a buff under my hat all year round because I can wash it and also I have the worlds most sensitive ears. In the winter I add a fleece band that I made to velcro around the harness of my hat. I like the look of the press stud ear warmers earlier in this post too though!

I have fluffy ear warmers that go in the hat harness are particularly needed when there’s a fen wind. They were all of about £4 on eBay.
I used tubes on the bike but find them a bit annoying riding.

I use these, I've currently got leather backed sheepskin lined ones that are the best I've used. They are not so close fitting that they affect hearing so I can safely hear traffic. We're on the coast and there is always a breeze, wind, gale 🤣 and no shelter.

I ride early mornings on exposed downs. I have under and over hat styles but include chin coverage which I’m not keep on. I don’t love either. And impact my hearing.

Thanks to this thread I’ve ordered one of these

And one of these

Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞
