keeping horse off acorns

I could do with moving mine back into the other field due to the rain making their current one rather muddy, but it has a carpet of the damn things. I'll be investing in yet more electric fencing (for the wretched deer to take down and spread across the field on a daily basis😠).

I really thought they’d be all but mush by now but after spotting him by chance being a little too enthusiastic with the mud under a tree from a distance … I can barely see any to be honest but he’s clearly got the taste for them and is willing to look deeper than I was 🤦‍♀️ explains the dicky tummy the other night though… if it’s not one thing it’s another!!

I have 8 large mares in paddocks with many oak trees and for the last 30 years and i used to worry. My feed specialist said they used to feed horses in winter on acorns. This year the acorns are plentiful but remember horses are browesing animals not grazing animails when you see them chew rotten stumps and bark off oak do not worry.
