Just a quick question.

For those that have continued to ride their own horses, whilst living on site at Uni, did you keep your horses at the Uni's equestrian facilities (if they were available) or travelled to a livery yard/your home.

If you had to travel, how far and how did you manage balancing the two?

Had mine at a local DIY livery yard, there were some other students on the same yard too which was nice. Managed him fine although couldn't go out very often with all my mates at night cos got too tired to do Jig properly and it wasn't fair on him!

I kept mine at a yard next door to the uni one for various reasons
1 - cost - it was 9 pounds a day for DIY
2 - If I was skivving off uni I didn't want them to know I was going off somewhere with my horse.
3 - I saw the people there everyday and to avoid bitchiness thought it was best to keep horse and fellow students seperate.

Most of my friends who went to horse colleges did this too. Esp those as Hartpury for some bizarre reason. At Brookes there were loads of silly restrictions on what I could to with my own horse if I kept him there. They said I could hack out with the college horses but my horse was not allowed onto the yard due to disease control, but he lived in a field next to the college yard and hacked out with the horses from their sometimes so fail to see how him going on the yard was disease control.
