I know there's a couple of people on here who are London based so really hoping some-one can help me out!

Just wondering how easy it is to keep a horse in London and what the costs are like?
Had an interview today which seemed to go ok so am trying to do a bit of research so I know my financial position if I get offered it (should hear back tomorrow)
I can either leave my horse where he is now, he's happy there & pay my mum to effectivley do Full livery for me & go home every weekend/every other weekend to take over and see him, or move him down with me.
But I'm not sure if there are many places in London with all year turnout but that provide stabling too- it seems to be one or the other & hacking has to be reasonable as he doesn't school anymore.
Anyone any idea if anywhere suitable exists (either want DIY or assisted livery) and how much livery prices are likely to be? Or how far out of the city I'd need to go to find this? Also is bedding/feed/hay etc likely to be more because of the area, can I have pricing for those too please?
Trying to work out which is the cheaper option- bring him down where everything's probably going to cost more or leave him where he is and stuff is cheaper but pay more for him to be on Full livery (effectivley)
I'd be working in Brentford and looking to live within 20 minutes commute of there if it makes a difference.

Place where I used to keep my horses does all year round turnout 24.7 grass livery , think they do full livery as well, there are stables. Lower Morden Livery on Green Lane. It's near Motspur Park/Worcester Park, not too far from Wimbledon> I used to commute there from Ealing on the tube but it was a bit of a pain so I kept him o n full grass livery

I have a car so traveling is fine. And luckily it's shift work so should fit in nicely with having him down there. Is there anything around Brentford/Ealing etc at all?
Any idea either for prices or contact details of suitable places?
Normally if I'm on the hunt for a yard I'd just drive around and stop at suitable places but don't fancy my chances doing that in London cause I don't know it at all!

Thanks

Bloody expensive and not really worth it unless you can see the horse almost everyday which can be a right pain in london traffic.

I have done it for 3 years now and can not wait to stop (am moving o/s london).

Leave your horse where he is at the mo, go to london, get set up, get to know the areas, etc and then look at moving him. Trying to do it all at once, especially when you don't know london and the traffic blackspots (of which there are many) will be almost impossible and no fun for either of you.

Part livery is £125 to £135 p/w odd - box rent is £40/£50 p/w. No real dif in bedding, etc.

Knew it would be expensive, but admit I wasn't figuring that much. I pay £85 a month for DIY atm

Wasn't on planning on taking him down until I settled in/was sure it was right for me, but just trying to do research so as if they offer it to me I know what I'm letting myself in for & don't have to turn round in 2 months time and say it's not working cause of my horse

I'll miss him like crazy if I leave him behind but think it would probably be better for him anyway, at least until I could find somewhere that was as near perfect as possible and I knew what I was doing.

If you only pay £85 p/m DIY I would leave him where he is at the moment!

£40/50 is literally just the box and the field, no straw, hay, assistance!

Hay, straw, etc all on top of that too, but yes, about half the price- even if I pay my mum to do him in the week I think I'd probably save money. Might go mad without a neddy to ride and look after tho, should imagine the price of lessons in London to be £££ too?

I worked in Brentford, and there were some horses up the road, with fab hacking - but cant for the life of me remember what the place was called ....... give me a bit and I may remember

. I know it was past the Tescos (near Sky)

I am West London, live in Ealing and keep horse at Windmill Farm Dressage (but do eventing) about 20mins from homs. There are loads of places around there, nice yards and facilities. You do pay a premium and cause my hours so unpredictable I now have to have him full livery which is £585 a month but that is everything except shoes/worming/riding. Lessons are £30 an hour for the onsite dressage trainer. I have taken a sharer to help with the cost and keep his fit and loved so ride him about 4 times a week (including weekends)..... It's not the dream but it works well and let's me have him which is perfect.

Tedster- have PM'd you. Intrigued now as to who you are!
Lucky- that's helpful, it's good to know that horses are still possible in London- even if I leave my boy behind it sounds like there are at least people who would like a sharer which would work for me.
The lesson price I assume is on your own horse? In which case that's really quite good.
Looks like it's a case of getting to know people and making contacts, and I'll look up some of the places people have mentioned as there are more options than I thought there might be.
