Hi - Can anybody recommend some chaps to keep my legs warm whilst out hacking? I would like some which are comfortable, don't rub or ride up and are easily washable.
thanks

Rambo Fleece lined chaps - fantastic! I've had mine about 6 years now and they wash up really well, almost look new when clean! They also do trousers which have a full seat and are great to ride in too, although not fleece lined, but they are quilted and very warm.

Don't know about long chaps but i have joules thermals that i wear under my jods and these keep me toasty whilst hacking.

Rambo waterproof chaps of the waterproof trousers (can get them lined or unlined). They are great and keep the wind and rain out. I also wear tights under my jodhs!

undoutedly the best investment I have EVER made in my 30 odd years of horses was this year in October, not cheap but been so cosy this winter both riding on the yard and hanging about at shows....

For under £60 (I know but I wish I'd invested years ago!) pair of mark todd thermal/waterproof trousers. They wash and come up like new, they are cosy but not sweaty if you get moving, never been cold once since i bought them!!!

I must wash mine a few times a week as I get covered in mud with the dog plus the 5 horses, falling over in the field etc, as you do!! Definately recommend!!!!!

I have worn them over my work trousers, over jods and with jeans and the length is fantastic in the legs, I have very long legs and they are the first thermal trouser I have ever ridden in that doesnt ride up or go too short once you have your feet in the pegs. Oddly they are quite flattering! - and are designed to ride in rather than just muck out.

They call them waterproof rather than thermal but they are warm as toast!

Musto chaps, also have a pair of waxed cotton full chaps (like Barbour jackets) with thick fleece lining that are just bliss... got them from the second hand section at the saddlers about 15 years ago.

I have a pair of secondhand Mountain horse over trousers. Really snug ,they are zipped and elasticated at waist also zipped at bottom to get your boots on and off and they have a mock suede seat. Dread to think what they would cost new!!

Thank you everyone for all of your responses - I should hopefully now manage to stay a bit warmer out hacking!
I'm quite new here and I'm finding everyones advice really helpful. I've also found that the forum is quite addictive!
