Well the little toad has managed to get the muzzle off despite plaiting it into her mane. Ive got it as tight as I dare but she manages to wriggle it off over her nose so its hanging round her neck like a huge medallion!! Its a bucket style one, soft nylon with a plastic/rubber end which touches the ground. It is 3 years old and she has kept it on for 2 years so maybe its just worn (doesnt look it and doesnt rub anywhere) So I think the next step is to buy a new one, suggestions please. She's a shettie x Sec A, about 11hds. I dont mind investing in a more expensive one but would like to be fairly sure it will stay on. Not keen on leaving a headcollar on as well but will if I have to. So, what do we think, best muzzle/headcollar combos for Miss Houdini.

I use the shires one on my shetland as it's well ventilated. It has velcro fastenings instead of buckles (good for quick release in the event she gets it caught and has a throat latch. I do it up so the end is an inch or so from her muzzle and she's never had a problem, except that it rubs under her chin which we fixed with a bit of fleece cut off an old girth sleeve.

I have just bought the green guard one with the head collar and he can't get that off. Plus unlike the bucket type one he is actually happy to wear this one.

Green Guard with the Green Guard headcollar (has a centre strap) - it costs a bit more but my mare tolerates it and it has never come off or rubbed.
