Few things here!
I have a piebald, he’s not a dirty horse doesn’t really have stable stains or anything but I can never seem to get his tail white. I have used blue fairy for a few months now and it still drys back yellow, does anyone have any suggestions?

I struggle to get his coat looking healthy and shiny! He’s full clipped as he sweats up very easily and fed a all rounder balancer daily(he’s a laminitic/ good doer so can’t have much more than this). I’ve tried to feed him oil but he won’t eat it. I have recently bought a set of eqclusive brushes and they seem to help a little. I don’t know do piebalds ever become shiny?

Finally, he has rubbed half his mane off! It’s half way up his neck in the middle so it’s very obvious! Any suggestions for growing it back in? I’ve tried Megatek rebuilder, wonder gel and multiple mane and tail sprays nothing seems to work, I want to take him out showing but it’s so unsightly! Thanks in advance!

I have a coloured whose tail is black and white. It is also super thick. I wash it in a normal horse shampoo and do a second wash with Touch of Silver twice a week brightening shampoo concentrating on the white part. Leave this on for 10 minutes before rinsing. I find it helps to keep it as short as possible and wash it regularly i.e. once a month before it gets too dirty.

I have a black and white cob too and they don't seem to ever get a proper shiny coat... he's hairy from winter still and the black has a bit shine but I don't think Ive ever seen white hair shiny - its a different texture... that's how a blind man can tell you have a coloured cob!! True...

Thank you! I’ll give this a shot!

I’ve always wondered! It’s so annoying, my other pony is so shiny already and my cobs coat is so dull!
Hair dye? Lots of it?

Or, have you taken a look at Henny Horse products? They sell showing stuff for feathered heavies so if they can get those feathers clean, I'm sure they'll do a good job on your cob's tail.
I’ll have a look, thank you!

Feeling everyone's pain!!

All I would say is.......... to be careful, VERY careful, of what products you use on these coloured horses as what you've got is very often a lot of white hair and pink skin and that can be ultra-sensitive!!

Harsh products like detergents, even though they may do the job and get a nice white shiny tail, can cause skin reactions.

I would only therefore use products that are either meant for human use (like Head & Shoulders or a mild baby shampoo), or specifically recommended for equine use.

I have a piebald mare with a mainly white, thick tail. Now that IS yellow! ? Mares produce lots of hormonal ick... as well as peeing and pooing in the general direction of a tail! I've tried for four years to turn it white, including thinning it out so that it's easier for her to "lift".... all to no avail. So I've made my peace with it instead of stressing! ?‍♀️

I started her in Forage Plus's Winter Balancer about 18m ago (she's on it all year) because of a dull coat and general itchiness and it's done wonders for her. She's got a beautiful shine these days.

Fairy platinum on the tail! Dirt cheap and works amazingly. Normally do 2 washes with it.

Unless you have a sensitive horse. I ran out of his Johnson's baby no more tears so I used fairy liquid on his tail. Some suds (literally just the foam and I washed it off quickly) dripped on mines back legs and he reacted badly :(

ETA: piebalds are generally less sensitive than my chesnut.
