Following on from the dartmoor mare that died thread. It got me thinking, what exactly are the legal requirements for keeping semi Ferals, obviously they can't be checked daily like the requirement for domestic horses but is it stipulated how often they should be checked, does anyone know the breakdown of welfare and legal requirements for such horses. Perhaps also as a comparison the same for domestic horses to see how the two differ. I for one would be really interested to read them.

World Horse Welfare? They did a really great job of sorting out 90 semi-feral ponies on 2,000 acres in Morayshire not so long ago when their elderly owner could no longer cope. (It was he who called them in). Actually, I was at the roundup and have seldom seen a healthier lot of ponies but I am sure there were a few casualties out on the hill. I think there's a link to the YouTube video on their site. If there is concern over the Dartmoor ponies, I am sure they will have it in hand. But I am equally sure they would welcome a donation!;)
