My farrier is having a great deal of trouble keeping shoes on my mare. We use keratin regularly, her feet intermittently are soft and he uses 6 nails per hoof. I do riding club activities (and avoid the heavy going as much as possible). She is a kicker and has thrown shoes in the trailer (I now hobble her!) Any suggestions?

You hobble her in the trailer?!

as for hooves, Beau's feet improved no end once he got Topspec feed balancer, and I use Kevin Bacon hoof dressing.

I found the newmarket hoof suppliment and farriers formula fantastic I was always loosing shows my farrier recomended putting nothing on the feet as he said it was a waste of money. The feed ones take up to 6 months to work as the hoof grows down but I noticed a difference after 6 weeks.

I feed biotin and use Kevin Bacon hoof dressing. His hooves are much improved altho still loses the odd shoe if its been very wet.
