Hi, I am very new to this (as in never been on one of these before!) but i am slightly stumped.
My horse had a horrible bout of laminitis last year, the pedal bone rotated and came through the sole, thankfully, she recovered fully and is back in work and better than ever. The problem is, this year i would like to keep her off the grass during the day time, the yard that i am at has wooden stables and they get really rather hot and stuffy, ive searched for a stable fan and not had any luck, does anyone know whether there is such a thing? We dont have electricity so it has to be battery powered but quite powerful at the same time?? Am i searching for the impossible?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not convinced, a fan would work off a battery for very long, even if you can find one.

If you intend staying at the yard long term, what about installing a window in the rear of the stable. Obviously with the permission of the YO.

Windows are great, if your horse has a tendancy like mine to try and escape then obvisouly put a gril on to keep the horse in but allow air to flow around the stable, Stall gaurds for the door are also lovely but unless your horse is a saint am reluctant to leave the stable door open once ive left the yard incase she does try to barge through it or climb over it but i leave it open when am up during the day while i can keep an eye out but my filly is very naughty. Have a look at the stable or if YO allows look at a field shelter with a gated door and look at ways to allow it to be as ventilated as poosibly. Alternative is to turn out but on a starvation paddock with next to no grass or an all weather manage so horse can still be outside in the fresh air and mooch around without gorging on grass and risking a bout of laminitis.

Such a shame to keep her in. However, if you really must, a window opposite to the open door will allow a good flow of cool air and allow her to have a better 'all round view' which horses prefer. She would be so much better off out in the paddock with a grazing muzzle - she might not like the muzzle, but at least she will be out in the fresh air, able to move around and less work for you!!
