Keeping Straw outside?

Im going to be switching my boy onto straw. However I have nowhere to store it. I will be getting about between 10 and 20 bales at a time and im allowing 2-3 bales per week. Would it be ok to store it on a pallet and cover it with a tarpaulin? Ive seen lots of stuff about round bales being able to be stored outside but nothing about small bales.

That should be fine, you may get a small amount of weather damage but as its for bedding that does not really matter.

Some of ours is kept outside on a pallet and covered well we only has a tiny bit of damp after the downpours

Used to do this at an old place and never had a problem. Just make sure the tarps do cover it fully and you've got something to hold them down with properly - they're not a hilarious set-up in winds remotely like the ones we've had lately.

That's fine for straw. The bales have an 'open side' and a 'folded side' just like hay- make sure you store the bales folded side out so the rain will just run off.
